OMG, is that painting so old it's growing hair? What kind of crap museum lets it's paintings grow old like that? And seriously, when you saw that story, were you immediately riveted and fascinated, or were you like "Huh? and this is headline news WHY?"

The painting isn't growing hair! And its 500 years old, the pigments are going to decompose, there's nothing the museum can do about it while retaining the integrity of the painting. If you had actually read the article, it said that possibly a couple hundred years ago someone might have done a bad job of cleaning the area around the eyes and washed away the eyelashes and eyebrows. And yes, I was interested in the story. Its fascinating that someone has developed a camera that can detect things like that. Think of what else it could be used for!
