there was a painting i saw where it was in black and white, but the artist only used black to paint some parts of a persons face. when you look at it, you can see that it is a person, but is there some special name for those type of paintings? and does anyone know a website that specializes in them

I don't want to know like who things are by and what the artists backround is, or what the painting was painted with or on or what size it is, I want more in depth detail.

It is a man, hanging on to a rope from a precipce. Above him are wild beasts waiting to devour him, while below him is a dragon waiting to catch him if he should fall. Above him on the rope is a white rat, representing day, and a black rat, representing night, gnawing on the rope. I saw it years ago in a textbook but can't recall it's title, or the artist.

Hobby Lobby made our frames and said acrylic paint, but I'm still unsure. Should I spray, or paint with a brush? Should I use all the special finish chemicals on it?

I have a beautiful art deco plate from this company. I am not sure what type of plate, but it is large maybe large enough to be a cake plate. It has the name on the back under a crown it is hand painted and numbered. It has a yellow and black art deco pattern. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

This will sound vague but please hang in there with me. I am looking for the name of the artist who's work looked like this:
One was a family in a living room. Four or five family members doing whatever they do. One was a child playing piano. ALSO in the painting were ghost like people from the families of the past who also lived in the house. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I need to create an art piece with the theme of 'Dichotomy'.

36 hour Acrylic Painting for an AP Art class. My teacher is unclear of what dichotomy means so our class is confused of what we could do. Hopefully someone can enlighten me. Thanks!

When it comes to paint on canvas using your oil paints or whatever you use, what gives you inspiration? I dont make art for art's sake but rather paint when I feel I should describe something...

so when it comes to you painting, how do you figure out what you will paint/create?

There is not a number 7 though. On the painting canvas the numbers are 3/8, 1/25, 11/16, 3/16, and such. I dont understand the fraction numbers. Can anyone help me? There are no instructions with this.
