...address poverty and disease?

If the Mona Lisa is priceless why can't the quality of the lives of 1 billion people?

It's just a painting...take a photo of it.

If you could sell the Mona for $1 Billion and put all those monies into a cancer cure how can that not be a fantastic bargain??

I have a Mabef M-11 A-frame style easel. As I was putting a canvas on it (using it for the first time), the canvas never really seemed stable enough to paint on. Also, there are these "canvas support" things that are like little blocks of wood that are on the spine of the easel....what are those for? Do I rest the canvas on those or on one of the shelves? Im obviously an extremely confused artist......

I have my first solo exhibition coming up in Nov.2007. I have a strong theme, and I have many paintings started. The trouble is that I can't just sit there and work for hours like I used to when I had no pressure or dealines. An agent from the gallery is coming the end of Dec., and I have about 17 painting to show him, whichis not even close to the number they wanted to see at this point. I work in oil and acrylic, so I have no excuse. While an oil is drying, i can work on an acrylic. I have ideas, I just get half done and then feel paralyzed that it isn't good, could be better, etc. I have NEVER had this problem, and I've been painting for a long time. I'm starting to freak out a bit that my first solo show will be a huge flop because I can't get focused and finish things in a timely manner. I can start several large scale paintings in a day, but finishing them may be months. I just don't have that kind of time. Any advice?

I'm trying to find out who the artist is of this picture. I'll describe it the best I can. Black background, head and shoulders of a person, but the face is skewed and the eye on the left-hand side is right on the edge of the person's face. His / her face is a hotchpotch of blue, pink and grey.

In the painting, three Roman men are holding out their swords in a stance of allegiance to, I believe, an elder man. Women in the background are seen in despair. I don't know why I can't remember the painting's name. I don't know what period it is from, but I am assuming it is the Renaissance, and most likely it is Italian. Thanks.

i started oil painting as a hobby about year ago. I gave out a lot of my early paintings to my church frineds, as my paintings begin to progress, I am not so sure about giving out my paintings as I spend a lot of money and effort in them. However, I dont have ideas about what to do with my increasing accumulated paintings. I haven't figure out if I can sell my paintings, and make it a commercial. My main questions is should I still continue to give out my paintings as I did before or make some money by selling them , or find some other way out. Please help, give me your ideas or opinions. a part time painter.
