I bought these pieces of wood from a craft store and I want to paint them to give as a Christmas gift.
1. What type of paint should I use on wood?
2. People always say acrylic paint is the best, but every time I've tried before the paint won't dry on the wood, why?
3. I there some sort of coating I have to put on the wood before I paint and any coating I put over the paint after I finish? What are they called?

I've seen the movie made of his life and I have read his bios before. He seemed fascinating and complex, plagued with a lot of demons. I really want to learn more about his work, but quite honestly, I find his work too dismal and chaotic to even comprehend.

Does anyone understand where Basquiat was going with his work? What messages (if any) was he trying to convey?

This has to be one of the greatest works of art in man's history. But I know little about it. Who painted it? When? Is it an oil painting? How much is it worth? And finally, where is the original? in an art museum or in the hands of a wealthy private collector?

It looks like a painting of a dream. It's not a Dali. One of the most interesting paintings I've ever seen. I could stare at it for hours- you see something new every time. For instance, what appears to be a mirror is actually a window.

1. A Florence wife possessed a knowing smile,
and dark mysterious eyes that did beguile.
Her portrait "La Gioconda" rose to fame.
Although we know her by another name.

What is the more common name of Leonardo Da Vinci's famous painting "La Gioconda?" It's three words.

2. Please type (with care) Da Vinci's given name.
