Moricha is right - the only thing I can find in my art guides is the Chandos portrait of Shakespeare.

The "Chandos" portrait is one of the most famous of the portraits that may depict William Shakespeare (1564–1616). The portrait is named for James Brydges, 1st Duke of Chandos, who owned the portrait.

I am Spanish, I know a little bit about painting and I had never heard of that person. Granted, his name is not Spanish.
Is it possible that those paintings are named after its owner (Duke of Chandos)? That Duke owned the most reliable portrait of Shakespeare, for example.
Have a look in Wikipedia.

I have an original painting signed by Chandos also. I appears to be a Spanish setting of houses although it could be French. My parents bought it in Paris in 1963. I cannot find anything about this artist. I also have one bought at the same time by an artist George Hann. Any help appreciated. Regards K

There seems to be no information on the net about this artist. I believe the paintings are of French/Corsican locations. I own one that is titled Cafe In Corsica and another titled Porto Vecchio.

I understand, but cannot confirm, that they were painted in the 1950 s or early 1960 s. I love them; they are SO colourful and show sundrenched street scenes. Perhaps they were bought to remind people of their first foreign holidays which were becoming popular then.

I have an original painting which is signed CHANDOS. It is of a house built by my ancestors several centuries ago but was painted about 30+ years ago to my late father's commission. I know nothing about the artist but I have been in touch with someone (details lost) who also has a fairly modern picture with a Spanish theme.
