Hello,
Im about to do several murals for a friend of a family members workspace and need some advice from other artists that have done murals. I haven't done this before and they feel confident with my art background that I will do a good job on them. The thing is I don't know what to charge for my services. Should I price each mural seperately or by the hour plus money for "supplies"? She wants 3 murals done and maybe even a sign painted. What should I charge?
Thank you for the help.

I am an artist/painter and appreciate an enormous variety of art. I also was educated at a prestegious art school in Rhode Island. There is an artist who is enjoying monetary success and recognition,an artist who now is an institution in himself,an artist who will never have to toil at a regular job again. I applaud any artist who is able to do this, regardless of what their medium or subjects are. This one I just cant figure out why it's such a phoenomenon -whats the appeal. How does Thomas Kinkade do it? Why do so many people buy hotel art?

What we are talkin about is a GICLEE (zhee-CLAY) print, which is an individually produced, high-resolution, high-fidelity, high tech reproduction done on a special large format printer. Giclees are produced from digital scans of existing artwork. Or something of that quality at a reasonable price.

What painting is this? I have asked this before, but 6 days just is not long enough to submit answers and revisions.

Okay. I have been searching high and low for almost 3 months now. Does anyone know what painting this is?

I have this large painting (airbrush) that a friend made for me. I now need to get a frame for it. However I don't know what sort/color of frame to buy. The painting is in black and white (grayscale) and quite large (140x100cm or 55x40 inches) and pictures two heads/faces looking at eachother...

I dont know if I should use a black frame or maybe a wood-colored one? Or something else? The wall it is supose to hang on is sort of natural white-yelowish...

Thanks!

This is another question about paints. Other than the pigment load and considerable price difference between 'student' and 'artist' grade paint, is there any real difference in the two? Some brands seem much higher than others, probably because of the rarity of pigments?... I was just wondering as I have always used the artist grade, but could I be saving money by using the cheaper grade? Do they not last as long or something? I am really interested to know what your inputs are on this. Also, what brands do you use? Thanks!

Hi all. I was wondering if I could use water mixable oil paint with traditional oil paint? I mean, is it safe? Has anyone done this? I don't want to use it if it will make the film unstable, I looked it up but I found nothing on it. It's in the same brand if that helps any. I guess I wasn't paying that much attention when I bought it...I just saw the color and was quite taken with it! I am going to work on a painting that I will be using a lot of this color and I just diddn't want to mix it with the others if it is going to be a problem, like it lifting or peeling or something. Anyway, your imput, please. Thanks in advance!:)

I love to paint. Also people say I'm good at it. But how can I make living out of it? I can't think of any carriers besides a teacher. Also I was wondering how a life of an artis looks these days? How much money can you make on one painting?
