This is an easy one...
Write over it again with a dry erase marker of the same color. Let it dry for 15-30 seconds and erase. You may need to repeat depending on how new your dry erase marker is and/or how long the permanent marker has been on the board.
NEVER use acetone or nail polish remover on a whiteboard. It will permanently destroy the surface.
Some other facts for you:
1. After you remove the permanent marker you may want to give the board a good cleaning. Use a simple solution of 50/50 water/alcohol. Wash the board with this solution and a soft cloth, like a face cloth. Rinse well with clean water and dry with a soft towel. Make sure the board is dry before you write on it.
2. Black dry erase markers always erase the best... then blue, then green then red.
3. Always use a good quality dry erase marker. Cheaper brands leave a residue.
4. Best thing to clean a porcelain steel, magnetic board with... plain water!
Best of Luck

depends on the board but acetone ( fingernail polish remover ) will remove permanent marker from anything non-porous ( the boards are all non-porous but some are just a coating so test in a corner first - if you just dampen a rag , wipe , then wipe with a dry rag you will be OK - do not leave the acetone on the board for more than a few seconds )

Rubbing alcohol and only that. I use it for stains on my white board. Try to use 70% or 99% rubbing alcohol.
Go to your local drug store, they should have it (you'll find it near the hydrogen peroxide).
You can use a cloth, but I prefer paper towel, it doesn't leave fabric all over the board like a cloth does.

alcohol(the chemistry type..not the booze type) or any type of spirit should do it.you could ask your local chemist for a small vial of spirit.if you want a solution closer home, try spraying the ink with pefume..this has the added advantage of leaving a sweet smell(any perfume would do..even cheap ones)

Have you tried acetone? If you can't get it pure, try nail polish remover (with acetone)
