Contemporary, so if you say Da Vinci or something like that, I'm going to ignore you. Thanks!

There would be Sam Sheppard, Dennis Hopper, Clint Eastwood (all are writers, actors, directors, artists and/or inventors on multiple levels) that you've heard of. There are many hundreds more that rarely get recognition outside of certain communities.

Daniel Pearl, the journalist who was kidnapped and killed in Pakistan, was also a sportsman, an accomplished violinist and painter. So true neo-Renaissance people are around. They just tend not to be self-promoting.

I define Renaissance man or woman as someone who possesses great knowledge, a universal genius, etc.
They have learned in great quanity. They know almost everything about everything.

Having said that, I would name DAVID E. KELLY, writer of Picket Fences, The Practice, Ally McBeal, Boston Legal.
If you watch any of these shows, you know what I'm talking about.

Renaissance is a historical period and nobody can today be qualified as a Renaissance man or women. You know; we are "contemporaries".

I don't think there are any "Renaissance" men or women today. That time period was so specific that people could actually study so many things and be well versed in all of them. Today, things are so compartmentalized and so complex in their own compartments that it is impossible to be a jack of all trades and master of them too.
