Gosh have you got some idiot responses....turpentine doesn't work with acrylic ....water will do the job. After I clean my brushes I keep a bottle of horsehair conditioner or just a cheap hair conditioner. I rub it into my brushes. This stops the brushes from drying out and prolongs the life of your brush...only if your using acrylic. If using oil after you clean your brushes with turpentine I rub them with a small amount of linseed oil. It does the same thing conditioner does for acrylics.....If acrylic paint is dry...your too late! Throw away the brush.

Clean up Acrylic Paints

From hands: Wet or dried acrylic paint cleans with soap and water.
From brushes: Clean wet brushes with soap & water. Clean dried acrylic brushes with acetone, denatured alcohol or equivalent product. These cleaning solutions are toxic. Care should be taken during use.
From clothing: While paint is wet, clean with water and/or window cleaner. Dried acrylic paint is permanent on fabric.
From painting surface: While paint is wet, wipe with damp rag, clean with water. When paint is dry, simply paint over surface with desired colors and motif.

For what it's worth, cleaning dried up brushes is kind of pointless in my book.I have found that the bristle action is just never the same.I also have learned to never get the paint up to where the metal is as even wet you can't get it 100% clean and it detracts from the brush.

if you have just used the brush soapy water is best, then rinse well. If the paint has dried, no idea.
