Women did shave the hairline right above the forehead ...perhaps they did away with the eyebrows too -maybe it's just for fashion but I think they did it to make their brain look bigger! So, if Mona Lisa is a self-portrait of the artist then Da Vinci had no eyebrows!

Maybe the most recent discovery of the grave of Mona Lisa Gherardini who was married to the wealthy Florentine silk merchant, Francesco del Giocondo will provide answer to your question. But I think that at that time eyebrows were not flattering features on a woman. Many times they just removed them.

Because when the mona lisa was painted they didnt know about the eyebrows, they thought the eyebrows were part of the hair.

he was so caught up in her beauty he forgot to paint them

but I believe it was a thing they did back then
they made theirs so thin they were almost invisible
