I saw it sray-painted on the wall of the Waverly Sanitorium while I was watching a show the other night. It might not mean anything for all I know. At the moment I'm on a Graphic Design course (pre-degree) and I'm thinking I want to switch to Illustration for my BA - the real reason I want to do this is 'cause I like DRAWING!
I've been forewarned that at my interview I'm going to be asked why Illustration is NOT Graphic Design - the thing is, I'm not sure I can come up with an eloquent answer! What would you say if you were asked this?

For bonus points, I may well be asked to explain why Illustration is NOT Fine Art either - I think I've got a good answer for this but it couldn't hurt to get others' input..

i have always wanted to paint, but i have never tried before. so could you guys give me some advice for and easy start up? what is the easiest to work with, what basics i need, all that stuff. i dont have a lot of cash, the reason i never started, but i am at a point in my life that i truly want to do this.
any advice is appreciated.

i dont want to do protraits, i just dont think i have the talent for that, maybe abstract or impressionism. something a little more forgiving for a novice.

I work at a portrait studio now and have been in photography for the last 8 years, part of me wants to go to school and learn enough about photography and how to run a small business. they be? For example, i took pictures of the moon and without thinking, I thought they were ok, but I realized the moon was blue!....I had forgot to reset the White Balance from previous use. Luckily, the moon was still around for me to use Auto White Balance, and took more normal looking pictures of the moon. More accurate color, but blue moon is still fine looking.

Will a giclee capture the texture of an original oil painting? I fell in love with the work of a particular artist on ebay (link below) who uses heavy palette-knife technique and was wondering if it would transfer? The description states it is hand-embellished.

At my old job I worked on drawings using only photoshop! it was hard work and I know a vector drawing program would have made my life easier...but work wouldnt buy one. (I just fell into photoshopping cartoons for fun-but had been hired for data entry).

In any case, i want to seriously start learning how to draw crisp vector illustrations but don't know which program is best...and which program is used more in the industry.

I'll start saving up money when i get an answer! thank you!
