Theater & Acting - October 2007

I am good at acting and singing and when i try out for plays and musicals i get a small part and seniors that suck get good parts. i want to act but i dont see how this is helping me!!!! what can i do. civic theater is almost the same way because everybody knows everybody and the highschoolers try out for it too. HELP. there will be local auditions for a movie soon and i believe in myself strongly, should i do it?

I love acting... and my parents are freaks.
At my school, there is a free after school drama class that I snuck into. My parents told me I couldn't go, because I only had a 93 percent in math, and I had to raise it to a 95 before I could do it. I went, and they're gonna come home in an hour. help? This sounds bad, but, I need a lie! They know I wasn't home until 5, because I didn't pick up any phone calls! They're all there on the answering machine!

Recently we saw the 1945 film of "The Weekend Lost" with Ray Malland. I viewed his accent as a possibly modified received pronunciation. Someone else equated it to a New Englander of Catherine Hepburn of the 30s and 40s and I can see his point.

The Lost Weekend was one of Billly Wilder's films who created some of the finest films ever created..

I know he was born in Wales and had a career in the Royal Household Guards in London, and that he did movies prior to this one, but did this movie make him famous and a star or did this movie make him famous and the parody by Jack Benny which immediately follow make him a star?

For our play auditions, they gave us monologues. We have to memorize it. Mine calls for playing a girl who's on an energy drink, which wouldn't be that hard for me. Except for the fact that we have to do them in British accents. Now, I can barely do a British accent slowly. What can I do to make my accent better and sound like a hyper British girl?

I am a 14 year old girl and I am very interested in theatre. So far, I have done 12 community theatre shows and one at a college that my friends got me into. I really want to get big roles. My only principle role was Maggie in A Chorus Line at Long Lake Camp (best camp EVER). Any ideas on how to get leads? It's hard for me because of my age...and height (I'm short-ish, 5'1"). Maybe I can't get some leads because I'm asian?

So my friend got a letter/postcard thing just for her and i heard they were a scam and i dont want her spending hundreds of dollars on something thats not gonna do anything for her. I want to tell her but i am not even POSITIVE its its a scam and if it is.. how can i tell her it is a scam? because i dont want her thinking i am just trying to talk to her into not doing it. i also want some websites of REAL agencies for her?
