How important is it to have an acting agent for theater work in the US? In the UK, you must have an agent to get any sort of paid work, but I've read that only film and commercial actors in the States need agents. What's the deal and how does one go about getting an agent in the States? Also, can an actor work around the country even if their agent is based in New York, for instance?

I'm currently having a brief overview of the history of drama and theatres, but I don't get the difference between the theatre of the absurd & fantasy. Both of them jumps out of the logical framework and I simply don't understand it.

I'm doing a seminar on Feminism within Hamlet, I'm about to start reading all the parts where Gertrude and Ophelia are in the scene, but does anyone know any starters e.g, basic ideas about feminism within the play, I've googled but it only brings up pay-to-view essays, which aren't much help atm.

And, what category would you categorize a major film with singing, dancing, and acting in it. A film / movie like Hairspray or High School Musical?

Thank You.

Do you know of any acting schools in Utah? Preferably neer Davis County. If not, that's okay.

This is why I posted this question:

I am on the Board Of Directors of the internet organization "Child Predator Busters", and always keep my eyes peeled for anything that could be potentially harmful to minors. I saw something that got my attention in an alarming way. See my response *note* to this question:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ap32d.eirdn05mtxhN1Lrbvsy6IX?qid=20070803152310AAwOh0M&show=7#profile-info-blUe0YYGaa

I definitely am NOT accusing anyone of anything. But aspiring actors are most easily preyed upon. The lure of fame, fortune, and stardom makes aspiring actors a perfect target for these potentially dangerous individuals. NEVER assume that someone is who they say they are. NEVER give out personal information about yourself, such as phone numbers, location, schools you attend, etc. There are NOT people in here that you should look to to get "discovered". Get advice from maybe. But not to meet in person, and not to give personal information to. Be SAFE
