In the end, after a ruckus at an upscale restaurant and a court case, Dolly convinces Vandergelder to marry her and all is well.

Hello Dolly is the musical adaptation of Thornton Wilder's play The Matchmaker. The male roles are Vandergelder, the miserly widowed employer of Cornelius (the romatic lead) and Barnaby (the comic sidekick). There are other smaller male roles like the waiters and general chorus men. The story is how widowed matchmaker Dolly Levi gets Vandergelder to marry her.

The play is about This girl, Dolly, and she is a matchmaker for Horace Vandergelder. But she has already fallen in love with her even though he finds her charmingly annoying. She keeps setting him up with these wierdo ladies so that he will fall in love with her.
Then comes Cornelius, barnaby and ambrose. Cornelius and Barnuby work for Horace in his Hay and Feed store. They want to get out and see things outside of the town they are in. So they leave, to the same place horace is going for the day. they bump into the lady harace was set up to meet and they end up taking the two ladies to dinner. tHen Ambrose and horaces neice ermengard runaway to.
In the end Horace and Dolly get married. The Two ladies and Cornelius and Barnaby fall in love. And Ermengard and Ambrose get together.
