Hey all!! Alright, for auditions for Urinetown in the coming semester the requirements are a ballad, an upbeat, and a monologue, each of the requirements can't be over a minute. I'm hoping for the part of Little Sally.
I'm a alto/mezzo-soprano with a pretty good range, but my strongest notes are under high e (e5), and I have a really well developed lower range.
- I think I should be fine finding a monolouge(I have three books to search through!!)
- I'm looking at 'I Know Things Now' from INTO THE WOODS for my upbeat. I think it displays youth and it's a fun song that cuts well. However, I still would be open to suggestions! - I've looked at a bunch of stuff for my ballad... but I can't really seem to find any ballads that make me seem younger... any suggestions at all?? I'm an actor in NYC. I've heard that alot of actors without agents, will send out postcards inviting the agents to one of their shows. Is this true? If so, what all is included on the postcard?

I'm sending in a resume, headshot, and DVD of my singing to Spring Awakening casting. I have to send it in this week or next week. I have no idea what song to sing. I think they said they want a song that is more rock/folk sounding. But, should I just sing a song from the musical . Any ideas? I was thinking about singing a Jewel song, but that just seems too hard and too over-played. What do you all think? Please....

I need to do a Chicago accent for a play (Grease, to be precise) and I have no idea what a Chicago accent sounds like! Can anyone give me some common characteristics or little differences from other accents? Alternatively, can you mention some famous people with Chicago accents who I can copy?
P.S I'm not talking about the dialect. I don't want to get big lists of slang words that people from Chicago use. I just want to know what their speech sounds like.

Let me know what you think about this idea. I feel as though many disney musical productions are holding back on the gothic/dark side. I play piano so I could write up some more songs, yet Danny elfman is the master of the entire thing.....hmmm....I wouldn't want him to sue me! LOL!
