I'm an actor in NYC. I've heard that alot of actors without agents, will send out postcards inviting the agents to one of their shows. Is this true? If so, what all is included on the postcard?

Yes, that is what we do. On one side of the postcard is your photograph with your "Actor Name," on it. On the other side, say something to get their attention. I hope you can fit us into your schedule. I will leave "2" comps for you at the front desk.

Write whatever you want to say. It's up to you, it's your play, you're in it. Most of the time Agents will NOT attend showcases, unless it is a new agent in the office, he or she may attend.

One rule. If an agent does attend. NEVER, NEVER, call to ask if they liked the play or, if you can meet them. That is a sure way for them to never want to call you.

You must be BRILLIANT in your performance. As an agent, I went see an actor that called me everyday to attend his show.

He was soooooooooooo BAD, I left before the play ended.

It's sad that actors cannot "see themselves," and KNOW that what they are doing on stage is AWFUL! They have absolutely NOTHING "going on," on stage. Tis a pity!
