I'm sending in a resume, headshot, and DVD of my singing to Spring Awakening casting. I have to send it in this week or next week. I have no idea what song to sing. I think they said they want a song that is more rock/folk sounding. But, should I just sing a song from the musical . Any ideas? I was thinking about singing a Jewel song, but that just seems too hard and too over-played. What do you all think? Please....

I don't know if you have heard of a new singer by the name of Beverley Mitchell, you may know her as Lucy Camden Kinkirk or of 7th Heaven. She has a new CD out and she sings the most beautiful song called Angel. You can check it out on her site at http://www.thebeverleymitchell.com then go to at the top where it says jukebox and you will be able to listen to her songs. She also sings a song my girls just love called Walkin and another one that is great is Heaven on Earth Down Here. Her sound is all her own and she has such a lovely voice and her music is just great has feeling and a nice beat. Hope this helps a litte. The other nice thing is she is new and young and fresh so her songs haven't been overplayed or over heard. Let me know what you think.

If they say they want something rock/folk sounding, do it. They didn't give instructions just so people could ignore them and waste time. What about an Anne Davis song?

check out joni mitchell, stevie nicks, judy collins, patty griffin, anna nalick and norah jones.

I've heard Melissa Etherage is particularly overdone, so I'd avoid anything from her.

If you're thinking abou Jewel may I suggest you look at "Little Sister" or one of her "Pieces for you" songs.

I've reccommend you staying away from the musical theatre unless it is a show with a similar style.

Sing " Angels ",
Robbie Williams, and Jessica Simpson
both sang this song.

Just make the song yours when you sing it.

Good luck. :-)
