I'd say your chances are as good as anyone else's. Every day someone gets a part, so why not you?!?! Go for it :-)

My advice is to go into the audition not thinking that it's the end all be all, but just to have some fun and if you get a call back, great! If not, on to the next.

Good luck!

If you go to acting school you have a good chance of becoming an actor, everything else is up to how hard you're going to work and put into it. An acting career isn't like that of anything else you go to school for, just because you have a degree in theater doesn't mean you're going to get work because of it.

Hon, almost every 19 year old wants to be an actor in Hollywood. Most do not make it and end up doing "bad things," because they need money. I don't think you want to do "bad" things to buy food and pay the rent. It works the same way with women. Don't put your hopes on being a Hollywood actor most people that go to Hollywood, don't make it.

It's very difficult and unless you have very good contacts when you go to Hollywood, you may end up sleeping on the street.

I think you should go for it. As long as you know that acting is what you really want to do don't ever let anyone discourage you from pursuing it. If you are young and have the the look, the talent, and the drive, there are many acting gigs out there.

Just want you to be aware of a few things:

1. It is a very competitive industry, and you have to have the determination to not let yourself be sidetracked by the competition. There will always be competition, you just have to have confidence that you are just as good as they are or better.

2. Because the industry is so competitive, it isn't difficult to get auditions, but its not so easy to actually book a part. So, you will need to have something else going on on the side that you can earn a living while you are working on your portfolio. In some cases, this may mean taking acting jobs that pay very little or no money. Taking these jobs is a good thing because you gain experience and the credits help build up your portfolio.

3. If you are really good at acting, you need to move to either LA or NY because these are the cities where you will find most of the opportunities. I disagree with the poster who gave such a negative feedback about life in Hollywood. Its true that a lot of people who move there don't make it in the industry, but their experiences don't have to be yours. First of all, don't just pack your bags and move to LA without some type of a plan. It isn't cheap to live there, and you need to have some type of income to pay your bills while you're looking for acting work. Start saving up some money so that can cover your living expenses for at least a few months after you get there.

You are also going to need money to get some good headshots for your portfolio and to buy some nice clothes so that you can make a good presentation if by chance you get invited to something. I recommend that you do these things BEFORE going to LA because they will cost you much more there than in your hometown.

The minute you get to LA, the first thing you should do is start looking for a job. Not an acting job, but a job that you can make $$$ to keep paying your bills before your cash starts to run out. The reason a lot of Hollywood hopefuls end up not succeeding is because they move there without any money, thinking they will get discovered and make it big overnight. That could happen, but the chances are slim. You NEED money to survive in LA, and its not the type of town where anyone is going to give you a handout. If your money runs out and you've got nothing else going on to pay your bills, your priorities will quickly change, and instead of trying to become an actor you will find yourself just struggling to survive. Unfortunately, this is the main reason so many young aspiring actors in Hollywood end up on the streets doing 'stuff' just to get money. I lived in LA for a while, and I could write a book about that town. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about.

Use your off work time to find out the latest info on the scene. Who's who, where auditions are being held, etc. There are many free magazines that are distributed in the LA area that publish this information, so get them every week so you will always know which gigs are coming up and where the auditions are being held.

One thing you really have to be careful of in both LA and NYC is that there are a lot of sleazy so-called producers out there who will try to take advantage of you if they know that you're new in town and don't really know the game. You should check these people out carefully before getting involved with them in any way. Some of them are actually pornographers who will try to convince you that 'acting' in their films might actually help your career. It won't. But, when you're hard up for money in a fast city like LA you may find yourself so desperate that you will do just about anything. Please don't put yourself in that situation. Plan it right, and you will have a good chance of finding success there.

Good luck with your career!

I can't give you any odds, as I am not a psychic, but if it is your dream then go for it ! If you don't even try, your chances are zero ! If you give it a shot, go to school, go out for auditions, your chances will be better than zero ! Even if you don't make it to hollywood, you will probobly get some acting work and have fun, so don't hold back, go for your dream !

Make sure you re-assess your reasons for wanting to act. if it's all fame and glory, you may want to reconsider. Acting school will always help. You'll be better no matter how good you are. It 'll probably take you some time to get to hollywood, but I'm sure it'll work out! Break a leg!

Go ahead and follow your dream. It doesn't matter how old you are or what the dream, if you work hard, and never loose sight of your goal you'll get to the goal.
