I have written several poems on here and found them later in a book with another name under them. No one gave me credit, or even an honorable mention.

I do not write poems for the money, but because I love to and it doesn't bother me so much that it happend just that they could have asked and I would have freely given them the right to use it. I write for passion and for my lover, nothing more.

What should i do about these poems? I have the originals and everything here at home, the scratching out the re-writes and even dates on the poems.

For E.E. Cummings, I only know of "Anyone lived in a pretty how town," and for T.S. Eliot hands down my favorite so far is "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock". Anyone have any recommendations on poems? From these or other poets I haven't heard of yet?

Is it too strange to think
That, when all life at last from earth is gone,
And round the sun’s pale blink
Our desolate planet wheels its ice and stone,
Housed among storm-proof walls there yet may abide,
Defying long the venoms of decay,
A still dark throng of books, dumb books of song
And tenderest fancies born of youth and May?

Would this be ABABCDED (approximate rhyme)?

A quiet remembering host,
Outliving the poor dust that gave them birth,
Unvisited by even a wandering ghost,
But treasuring still the music of our earth,
In little fading hieroglyphs they shall bear
Through death and night, the legend of our spring,
And how the lilac scented the bright air
When hearts throbbed warm, and lips could kiss and sing.

And, ere that record fail,
Strange voyagers from a mightier planet come
On winged ships that through the void can sail
And gently alight upon our ancient home;
Strange voices echo, and strange flares explore,
Strange hands, with curious weapons, burst these bars,
Lift the brown volumes to the light once more,
And bear their stranger secrets through the stars.

What would be the rhyme scheme? I found it to be ABABCDCD (approximate rhyme included), but is there a specific name for that like aa bb cc is couplet? And is there a constant meter or beat in this poem?

The World Goes Around

Heavenly stars twinkle and shine
In stark silhouette leafy branches entwine.
Deep in the shadows, where two lovers stand
Shoulder to shoulder and hand in hand
A halo of moonlight brings soft golden glow,
Enmeshed in emotion, the lovers don’t know.
They don’t see the stars twinkle far overhead
they’re lost in their heartache, and tears that they shed
fall like dead leaves, to blanket the ground,
while spinning and turning, the world goes around.

Tonight, last time these lovers may meet,
Pain, fiery monster with cold, raking teeth
Slashing, burning and tearing apart
New love, true love – and innocent heart.
Fighting for pride, their pain must not show
Each turns away, lets the other one go.
Blindly they tread the long lonely track,
For each broken heart, the future seems black.
Their tears, like dead leaves, blanket the ground
While spinning and turning the world goes around.

Anchor, Fear / Severance Pain

aRound my ankle, round my heart,
That chain that grounds me, bears each bolt
of lightning, each spike on my chart
down to the unreactive veldt

This chain is fear, it's kept me here
Safe from monsters, close to sane,
eQuipped to grab the world and steer,
yet shut behind a curtained pane.

Past my peak, & past my cove
The shipping routes go far round here.
They don't come near this buoy's love.
They read my tone as a word: Beware.

Could I cast off, and yet be me
and sail across each of these routes
to where the world goes mad? and see
the distant lands of foreign tongues?
If I'm built to sail but no one told me?
If me's not really the best thing to be?

It's time to cut myself in half,
to cut the anchor, drop the fear
and make the voyage I hold so dear
in a heart forgetting how to laugh.
In a heart of unyielding iron pain.
In a heart that sees in iron a chain.

I just wrote a poem with one and it seems to sound okay. To me, anyway. Maybe it's just because I wrote it.

But does it actually exist? I mean, have people used it before?

Sorry, I don't know a lot about rhyme schemes and such.

So I entered a poem of mine into a contest on Poetry.com and got an email back a few weeks later saying I won an Editor's Choice Award. They are saying my poem is going to be featured in a book and stuff. Anyone know if this is a scam? Or is it the real thing?

......Homemade Bread

This evening...
Roasting aroma,
In my kitchen,
Fills a dog's eyes,

Every room.
Bread dough
Baking high.
Oven warming

Every room
Against Night's
Chill. Cold.
No electric

Blanket tonight.
Christmas cards
To read again
And again...

Cherish always
With love,
And homemade
Bread.

I use to write poetry when I was in my teens, but turned away from it and pursued music, meditation, and above all, the Lord my God to fill the voids and to aliviate the pains. I notice alot of the poetry seems sad and full of despair and I would like to see if this little dittie could perhaps place a smile on your face. Tell me what you think. Remember this is suppose to be humorus.

when you caress me
you take away my ability
to speak
your breathing on me
against my skin
unravels the sensuality within

our pleasures burst and burst again
through our body
the sensations are rippling
i can't help but to feel helplessly
captive in your ultimate pleasure
nothing could be better

with your sweet lips i cry
each and every time
your fingers touch me
all over my body
moving my hips slowly
caressing you and me in the same motion

the more we move
the closer to ecstasy
big rasberrys
tasting so sweet
you can taste the nector
plenty of goodys galore

gentle bites all over
i just want more and more
squeezing my brown melons
ooh it feels so good and
its getting hot in here
let the sweat drip down

sit on top and let
me arch my back
so you can see me
a little more clearly
up and down in and out
hand on your thigh so i can get it right

looking you in the eyes
feeling all of you inside
hands sliding down my back
consciously losing track
going slow and fast and

Ok, so I wrote this poem when there was a deep hole in my heart at the loss of my iPod....it's sort of like a ballad to my ipod, except not really, it just sort of fit the situation....and I wrote it to see if my mom would pity me and give it back, but it didn't work. Anyways, here it is, let me know your thoughts!

You are the music in my heart
Without you my life is silence
Without your love singing that sweet melody, my heart shatters
When you sing that song, I regain life
Every breath we take is the harmony and melody of our love
Without your melody, my harmony is nothing
A whole orchestra could sing a song of our love, but that is nothing compared to the song your love is singing just for me...

My friend wrote this poem based soley on the idea. His disclaimer to me was this " lance watson: Raquel, i am not and have never been a cutter, or suicidal". So with that said....What is your opinion of his work....please be kind...as poetry is his pastime and not profession. I do believe he did an amazing job, but I am biased, please share your insight;~D

My Scars
I feel trapped inside of my own mind,
my deep emotions,
i can't unwind.

One moment euphoric,
chasing my dream,
next minute depressed,
with no self esteem.

My only freedom,
is to cause myself pain,
a blade and the blood,
i'm cutting again.

As my blood drips dark red,
off the blade and my arm,
i'm at peace,
i'm tranquil, i'm calm.

To me it's relief,
a release,
just like rain,
it replenishes, renews,
and i'm growing again.

The scars that i have,
i keep hidden from view,
for my eyes only,
never for you,

And each and every one,
has a tale it would tell,
just thank God,
your not like me,
and living my hell.

Stinging barbs of brutal critique,
Roasted Rack of Lambasting,
Raw, unseasoned, seared,
Bone and sinew exposed,
Offered poetic feast,

Vomitorium flow,
Figurative flush down the tube,
Heartfelt sorrow, shame,
Audience enflamed,
Bored, dismayed,
Ordinary, unheralded,
Unclaimed.
Shipwrecked on the reef of indignity
