I have written several poems on here and found them later in a book with another name under them. No one gave me credit, or even an honorable mention.

I do not write poems for the money, but because I love to and it doesn't bother me so much that it happend just that they could have asked and I would have freely given them the right to use it. I write for passion and for my lover, nothing more.

What should i do about these poems? I have the originals and everything here at home, the scratching out the re-writes and even dates on the poems.

You have received a lot of suggestions as to what you can do now.

I have a suggestion as to what you can do in the future.

I spend a lot of money sending my self mail that is never opened but place into a special file with a photo copy of the actual document inside. This file contains all my writings and edits, prior to posting on the Internet.

Should anyone do to me as they have done to you. I have this sealed, date posted material that will be opened by the judge.

If this is true, then you pretty much got what you had coming to you. This is a poor place to post original work. You may as well leave a wallet full of money out on the sidewalk for a week and hope no one takes the money. If you are really serious about your poetry, look into getting it copyrighted when you write it. You can google it for directions. Otherwise, keep it to yourself.

p.s. Also, look in the books for the publisher's information and mail them a letter complaining, with copies of your originals. It won't prove anything and may not help, but you never know.

If it's worth it to you, you can sue the author/publisher for copyright infringement. Once you write something, you own the copyright, and apparently this person plagiarized from you. You can discuss this with an attorney about what to do next. Of course, you might decide to just let it go. It could be that the person who claimed to write the poems told the publisher that they were his/her work.

ADDITIONAL: The author before me is correct. You don't have to do anything special to copyright your poems. Once you write them, they are yours.

they flat out plagarized you. Conact a lawyer. You don't have to go to the copyright office or anything to copyright a poem. You wrote them, they are yours. Get the bastards

Make sure you get them copyrighted or something like that, or yeah people will say they are theirs.
