Who are some well known currently living Poets and what are some of their poems?

I am putting together a Poetry Anthology for my Writer's Craft class and part of the assignment is to find a living poet who is writing and publishing poetry.

I need to write a short biography about this poet and include 3 of their poems.

Does anyone know of a poet or poets that fit this description?

I need just need one poet. The Culture does not matter. He or She can be from any country or culture, as long as they are a living, breathing poet.

My favorite contemporary poet, Billy Collins.

This link (Poetry Foundation - reputable site) has a biography: http://www.poetryfoundation.org/archive/poet.html?id=80600

Here are the poems I would use - pick three:

Forgetfulness: http://www.poetryfoundation.org/archive/poem.html?id=26905

The Names (written for the victims of 9/11, but NOT trite): http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9C07E1D7153EF935A3575AC0A9649C8B63&n=Top/Reference/Times%20Topics/Subjects/L/Language%20and%20Languages

I also love Andrew Hudgins, but some of his poems may not be appropriate for a school project (but would be fine for a college class): http://www.poetryfoundation.org/archive/poet.html?id=3324

Any of these poets would make a good subject for your project:

Richard Wilbur
Adrienne Rich
Rita Dove
Lawrence Ferlinghetti

You can find information on all of them at many websites, including:

http://www.poets.org/

That site will also give you the names of many other contemporary poets.

Great question.

There are tons of living breathing poets to choose from. Your local library probably is full of them.

Try Nick Flynn.

clone of your muse being a parallel to a vampire is a alluring one. i imagine the poem suffers a touch from the quick lines...they placed the rhyming words too close at the same time...and because that you carried the "...ight" rhyme on for a span of 8 lines, it sounded a touch user-friendly (no pun meant) on the start. also, be careful of utilizing similar words too close at the same time, alongside with "darkish" and "darkness"...detect a sparkling thanks to exhibit a similar image...or use the note in an unpredicted way so it would not seem a redundancy or so it consists of the concept in a diverse route. you employ "darkish shadows" as a metaphor for vampires...yet think about suggested "light shadows". i comprehend it don't have evoked the television educate "darkish shadows", even though it may have produced a closer image and prevented the double "darkish/darkness" so close at the same time. also, you're saying, "sleep by ability of day, stay by ability of nighttime"...why no longer "lifeless by ability of day, stay at nighttime" or "sleep by ability of day, wake by ability of nighttime"? In different words, you may want to apply the antithetical note to whichever note you've faith to be the most well known of both. back, i love the concept and with a touch modifying i imagine it will be an exciting poem...save writing
