I wish I was good at writing sonnets
I wish I knew how long this thing should be
I hope to earn a good grade on this poem
If not an A i'll settle for a B
The rhyme sceme alternates from line to line
throughout the first three quatrains anyway
then add another pair of lines that rhyme
to emphasize the things I need to say
I hope your expectations are not high
*****(I need a line right here)
Its not as if I didn't really try
The pressure of the deadline makes it hard
writing this assingment must be a curse
but not to try would certainly be worse.

****Is this in iambic pentameter? please say yes and help me write the 10th line

Following her starry turn of thought
Gaze lifts and desert eyes renew their sight,
Pulse quickens once again to dream of flight,
Dreams strain the bony cage in which they're caught,
Foot shifts to measure against granite defenses
Which blunt the human heart in need of wing.
But earth bound, she can neither fly nor sing
When dust and air conflict and dim her senses.

180 Mile Per Hour Winds

There was a wolf, a cat, and a hen.
All my king's horses...
All my king's men...
Still...no help comes.

I wait for the storm...there will be
No witch flying outside my
Window.
Not tonight.
Not this late hour.

Turkeys in the front yard,
Chickens huddled at the front
Door,
Wolf under my window...
Silence of Coyotes in the
Canefields.
Still...no help comes.

Winds are from the East.
Rains are from the East...
Three days now.

The radio talks of a monster
In the Gulf...crawling, stopping
To look around...choose oaks
Hundreds of years old...
Choose Plantation mansions...
Winds...150mph.

It will flatten the near-harvest
Canefields...sugar prices will
Soar.
It will prune the Oaks.

It will shift the house I live in
Three times...
Winds...180mph.

ok so i have to write this poem about the beach and Describing the beach like the sounds , smell , feeling , the view . this is what i have started

"As I walk along the beach, The sun against my face, Feels every bit as sweet. Looking across the sea It seems endless , And only the sound, Of the seagulls on high on a beach, I’ sitting on the floor with sand in my toes, And the wind, In my hair. Looking at the beautiful sun set it is just a puse of perfection , as my friends come over we look across the blue sea . We get into the warm waters of the sea all u can hear is girls shouting and the waves crashing together.

As the day go we see the sun set oh how beautiful it is with all its blended colors , orange , blue , and purple. We all start a fire and our other friends come around together , the fire is so red and the smell of the wood burning

can u please give me more ideas of what else i can write

.Tutankhamon and Meryet-Re: The Entombment*

Should I come for you when night has fallen...
Shall I call your name when twilight descends...
Will temple bells hold you as dusk deepens...
Will the Royal Priestesses be with you when I come...

Will your eyes remember me when night has fallen...
Will your hair still be scented with perfume...
Should my steps be whisper-soft on the stone...
Shall your annointed heart still be mine...

Do you wish to meet the Lord of the Westeners...
Do you, my beloved, find peace in the House of Gold...
Was the Double Crown too heavy for my joy in life...
Was the Nile cold when they washed and prepared you...

Many tears of the gods have been shed for you...
Many Great Ones will still your sorrow. And mine...
Would you exchange one palace for another...
Would you have a goddess escort you to the valley...

Your favorite mirror and khol will forever be with you...
Your beloved cat will live as you wished, my heart...
There will be dancers and flowers and musicians...
There can be no other to replace you in the Two Lands...

You shall be as the sun and arise in the morning...
You shall be a goddess...

I place my ring on your sarcophagus for Eternity.

You gnawed
Along those gripping vines
Strangling your blooming flower
They – merciless
Ripped the veins of promised leaves
Whilst swallowing your bones
Crushing
And you struggled so hard
To be free
The elder-vine that stole your flower
Stole your blossoming bud
Ugly duckling
You realised it’s not rocket science
To eat the soaking fruit of cherub-babes
Shining futures could be ripped apart
As easily as your flower

I did this really quickly, and I'd just like your opinions, see whether or not you like the general sentiment etc. Thanks very much.

I've been asked to make an original illustration concerning Frost's "Mending Wall"... however, I'm neither very creative or talented when it comes to art!
If you're familiar with the poem, what would be a good idea for a simple yet representative illustration of the poem? I realize that I could simply draw a wall, but it wouldn't be very original! Thanks for your time!

This place is cold
and white.
They call my name
I turn.
You can't see them?
They move.
They speak different languages
I don't understand
They sing songs
and don't know the words
I ask them to stop
They laugh.
I go to hit them
They scream
The evil one comes in and asks
"What's wrong?"
It turns to me
they point.
A single fang sinks into my arm
I sleep.

,New, Sand, Oasis, Love Ballad

If sand is made from dried tears,
Then I've made a desert.

My brain is an oasis. A freedome of the
Harsh, grainy wind. Which is love.
An oasis gives me nourishment with honeysuckle blooms.
An oasis. From the outside looking in
You wouldn't guess I was there.

I let my hair down and leave. My feet
Take me to an Oasis. And while I'm there I
Hide my eyes behind smoke.
-The holes to my soul, they say.
With so much sand, I feel nearly buried.

Only when I grasp the first branch do I say,
"I'm here", "I've made it."
I take my cigarette, and comes the smoke.

We mingle our brains. We've shared everything.
All I've given as gifts, I've gotten in return.
I'm happy.
And blessed rain comes pouring down.
My bitter, salty conscience; like my skin, are
Clean and white again.
I love.

I!
I can feel the anger flowing right through me!
Why?
Why does the anger seem to abuse me?
Hate!
Hate and control the only things I know!
Wait!
Wait just a minute, I'm about to explode!

I feel the hate flowing through my veins! (hating waiting fadeing baiting)
I feel the hate flowing through my veins! (seeding needing dreaming screaming)
I feel the hate flowing through my veins! (trying crying flying dying)
I can't take this!
I feel the hate flowing through my veins! (hating waiting fadeing baiting)
I feel the hate flowing through my veins! (seeding needing dreaming screaming)
I feel the hate flowing through my veins! (trying crying flying dying)
I can't make this!
I feel the hate flowing through my veins! (hating waiting fadeing baiting)
I feel the hate flowing through my veins! (seeding needing dreaming screaming)
I feel the hate flowing through my veins! (trying crying flying dying)
Must erase this!

I hate, why wait?
Why hate? I wait!

okay, just felt like asking opinions on this. i wrote this during our algebra class...hehe. be nice =]]

the look in your eyes
sends me to an abyss
where silence traps me
as i try to escape this hole

wishing to come back to life
hoping to find a way out
as i create my own battlefield
fairytale against what's real

as i long for a sanctuary
away from this puppet show
as i try to put an end to illusions
that led me to a labyrinth

as innocence drops a tear
which opened my eyes to revelations
that led me back to where i saw
the look in your eyes

I have a really harsh English teacher and I need some opinions. We were given an open ended fiction assignment. We must show emotion and originality. How is this for a start?

Searching is something that most find annoying. It is an act that complicates and plaques the mind much like the unexplained presence of a smell, or the phantom brush of skin. Often times, we ourselves simply create the absence of what it is that we are searching for. This however, was not the case for Elizabeth Reiley. The entire time that Liz searched she had faith that she would find what it was she was looking for. It had been there before, and it would be there again. Whether it be nestled in the corner of a warm glowing room or teetering on the edge of an unforgiving ravine Liz would find what she was looking for, and she simply knew it. Liz knew that there was beauty left somewhere in the world. She merely needed to determine where it went, and why.
