Well lets see you could write it almost like its a letter to someone near and dear.Or perhaps even a stranger that has some how inspired you.
Or you could write it on many different stranger's in dire situations, each situation poignant and touching to you.
Or you could write it as though you were talking to yourself.Or a family member that is getting older.

I could go on and on but I hope that I've helped at least a little.Good luck:)

I don't know how long your poem has to be but here is what I came up with on short notice (5 minutes to write it) you don't say if it is for a man or woman poem.
What Can I Give You This Christmas

I went to the stores
I walked all around
Trying to find you a gift

I looked in each section
Asked for ideas
From salesmen walking the floors

I checked high and low
Considered CD's and games
I looked down every row

I got tired of looking
Then when I got home
I decided to bake you some cookies

I'm not exactly sure how to help you on that one...but I would suggest, since its titled "What Can I Give You This Christmas" you should put down a list of things that you would actually give someone, and then put it in a poem form. Better yet, don't make them physical materialistic things...add a different touch...ex: love, happiness, etc!!....sounds cheesy? But with some good catchy phrases it might just give your poem a whole different meaning since its not so literal.

Goodluck =)

I notice you duplicated the question? With all due respect; I'll assume you're a novice. I guess what bothers me is the fact that poeple come here asking for as much original work from others as they can get. Hopefully you'll merely take all the answers regarding "What" and create your own.

Everyone so far has certainly offered valid suggestions with regard to theme and content; as well as expressing an emotional rather than tangible sense to that holiday.

Instead of writing about tangible presents, you can do something with feelings:

hope, joy, love, family, fun, etc....those type of things
