Following her starry turn of thought
Gaze lifts and desert eyes renew their sight,
Pulse quickens once again to dream of flight,
Dreams strain the bony cage in which they're caught,
Foot shifts to measure against granite defenses
Which blunt the human heart in need of wing.
But earth bound, she can neither fly nor sing
When dust and air conflict and dim her senses.

For some reason this very well appeals to me, in this respect...the reader can also read this as a woman nomad in a faroff desert country, going through the same questions...
They must have a lot of the same dreams we do...a panorama of stars...the heavens that are so much better for viewing, than ours...in this street-lit wasteland.

I have to say Amy you remind me of a fragile young poet, called Shelly, that's bryce Shelly, you have an afinity with wording that is simply inspiring. I find the poem breathtaking, nicely flowed and general. I feel you lack the essence of shocking the readers, you have it well within you. The emotion within the almost lyrical lines of your working is measured to flow from one emotion to another, well done, I'll be watching your future working, good luck.

I have been truly blessed this week with lot of beautiful poems ,i haven't normally gotten into them but they have been sent on to me by one of my YA friends and i have been reading hers and have loved them as i love this poem i imagine while reading and it gives me a sense of being there .Thank you for sharing your beautiful poem
