Human rights either have to be set down by a higher moral authority (God) or they are intrinsic to human nature. Because there is evidence for neither the existence of a Deity, or that they are intrinsic to human nature are they a fallacy? Yes I realize that they are applied by the U.N. but they are just a delusion if not contained within the essence of human beings.

If you want happiness for a month -- get married.
If you want happiness for a year -- inherit a fortune.
If you want happiness for a lifetime -- help someone else.

"It is the province of logic to tell why a reasoning is false. It is the business of sociology to explain its wide acceptance."
Is it a bad argument ?or a fallacy, if its a fallacy which kind can you be specific and why?

Who says that in fact we are falling forwards into a future and not actually about to fall to yesterday? We wouldn't know if we were rewinding would we. Could it be that instead of H2 combusting to form water, it could infact be separating from a water molecule into H2 and O? But becuase everything is reversing, even our minds cannot tell that we remember what happened a few seconds ago (a few seconds ahead that is), because the brain cell has just been 'un-produced'?

lol, Does anyone understand what I'm saying here?

Aristotle believed that "living things proceed little by little from inanimate matter to plants...plants in turn ascend by small degrees toward the animal world."

Whilst i agree with him that religious teachings and notions of God are nonsense, how can he say that science is fact when we can really never claim to know anything for certain. If scientists are constantly proving themselves wrong, then we can never be sure of anything, so how can he be so sure of himself???

i have a general question on life. if you have no connections whatsoever but you may have talent, can you make it. i'm from europe and i once sent an email to an american professor asking a very specific question regarding my thesis which sounded original but i wanted to ask him if it made any sense. he said he can't go into it, etc. i thought in the states it's all about the quality not money, etc. so, how is it in reality; can you make it if the other person gains nothing from your profit. thanx
