80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

The meaning of life is how you see it. It means different things to different people. To me, the meaning of life is just playing a pawn and going along making your orderly money through government and having to spend it on essential items that you need in life... so you have to work to make more money for government and pay taxes that you don't want to pay.. And then you get in wrecks and accidents that were.. nothing more than an accident and someone gets angry because you made a tiny scratch in there new hummer that is just there for stereotypical reasons.. and you have to pay the rest of your pay check to that. Basically the meaning of life is getting money.. spending it.. and being in a tight spot at certain times.

The meaning of life is chance. life simply means to be alive. to have metabolism, to perform chemistry, and so on and so forth, but there is so much that means more than just life, like the chance to experience, the chance to love, the chance to make love, the chance to care, the chance to be happy, the chance to cry from happiness, the chance to create life, the chance to lose a life. So many organisms have had life; so many have lived, but each has had it's chance for so much more.

Biologically; to reproduce. Subjectively; i would think its all a matter of perspective. Each person chooses to find or create meaning in there life.

that's probably one of the hardest questions in life.
for me, life is making the most of it. it is temporary. we will soon leave earth. so life is making the most of it.
life is a treasure that we should not take for granted. we should make wise decisions about our actions so we won't be regretting in the future.
everything in life almost happens just once. life itself will just happen ONCE. just one time. and that one special time should be spent wisely. and for the good of oneself, others, and the world.
