I have been in love with the subject of theology for all my life. I am a double major of Philosophy and Religious studies and planning on getting a masters-doctorate in theology.

I know I want to become either a deacon or pastor, but say I change my mind, what jobs are out there that are comforting and relaxing (not hardcore competitive) with a doctorate in Theology?

What exactly are the requirements to become a church convention speaker/leader/organizer? Can I become some sort of religious advisor/councelor for people with problems they need to talk about?

According to occam's razor, the simplest explanation is often corrrect. However, the simpest explainatin is often wrong. For example, it is easier to believe that the Sun revolves around the Earth than it is to believe the Earth is moving yet we can't feel the movement. It is also easier to believe that all the animals on Earth were made by God rather than the complex and very long drawn out process of evolution.

Perhaps simple explanations are actually more complex when you consider all the facts. The theory that the Sun revolved around the Earth needed to be revised to explain certain abnormalities that were discovered overtime. The standard model of the universe before Galileo was very complicated. The planets and the sun each had two orbits. Galileo's model is actually simplier, it is just counter-intuitive.

Philosophy and philosophical are words bandied about not only on this site, but everywhere in life. Rarely, do we stop to ask "What is philosophy?"

Metacognition is fun. Therefore, what is philosophy? What do we do when we think philosophically? What is the purpose of philosophy? What are the results of philosophy? How can one become more philosophical?

Ive tried to sew my heart
but the sorrow leaks out anyway
my vibrance always fades away
and the world casts me in darkness
I stand here, timid, in the moonlight
naked and pure, i try to find my heart
I saturate this emptyness with complexity
because I am empty without love
I wonder around helpless and blind
while I am SCREAMING what i feel
like i am a BOOK you can read
because my feelings are
as vacant as glass
the darkness pierces complexity
that i constantly try to hide
instead of finding what
will complete my heart
I wonder if im even ALIVE
because i cannot live without truth
I kick and scream in the ******* dark
because i cannot understand why
i feel for you
why i want you
why i need you
why i LOVE you
WHY it is said: love never dies
but i BELIEVE it, looking in your eyes

blogged about it, got dumb responses.

"You can't define it." --Hey, how can you tell that you're in love if you can't define it? How can you tell that it exist? I mean, at least God has a basis for existence. But the person countered with "You can't explain God, does he exist?" (it was a catholic school, everyone was catholic, including me)

"Love is life, and life is love. Love is beautiful. Everybody needs love to exist."-- WTH was that. That wasn't an explanation or a definition, it sounds like a freaking quote from a dating game show.

"Love is not the same as a crush, love is something bigger." -- But, you can't tell why. Sounds like an exaggerated crush to me, then.

"Love is affection, commitment, and lust combined." --IMO it's not dumb at all. But it sound like someone grouped the three and named it.

damaged by being raised by parents who did not show self love or love for their children, then how do you even know what self love is, especially when you do not march to societies norms, thus are continually misunderstood and rejected. So, what do you mean when you say, "love yourself" How does it manifest? I am not talking about superficial stuff like looks, but about ways of functioning in life/in the world. There are so much unaccepting and judgmental stressors out there.

Pleasan it is, when on the great sea the winds trouble the waters, to gaze from shore upon another's great tribulation: not because any man's troubles are a delectable joy, but because to percieve what ills you are free from yourself is pleasant.

PS. If all that Nature barks for is that pain be removed away out of the body and that the mind be kept away from care and fear, why do we need then these pains, why these sorrows? Do we really need to fear the Gods?
