Pleasan it is, when on the great sea the winds trouble the waters, to gaze from shore upon another's great tribulation: not because any man's troubles are a delectable joy, but because to percieve what ills you are free from yourself is pleasant.

PS. If all that Nature barks for is that pain be removed away out of the body and that the mind be kept away from care and fear, why do we need then these pains, why these sorrows? Do we really need to fear the Gods?

This is very thoughtfulness of yours that make you think and question like this. Such thinking often brings periods of elation and sadness, joy followed by sorrow, and dole receding delights, most randomly. The pain is the first pain of being human being. We cried when first tasted the lights of this material world. We forgot something behind the tapestry of life in front. But we do not like to end in forgetfulness. We want to go from this world with a heart full of faith and love. We want to ensure that there is something better for us in waiting. We want to make sure that our live have been worth our wile here. This make us think and feel the feelings that often go beyond our senses.

The existence of human beings at the beginning was a divine expression with the best in its purpose, but now it is our purpose to express that best in existence in form of living this life well. We need to realise the potentials that we have as human beings and this is not easy. Our purposes are often crossed and condemned by the purposes against what we know is the best an essentially our own. We feel hurt, sad and sorrowful because we want to realise the goodness and share it with the rest. When we are able to do this we feel elated and purposeful. The fear of God is for the love of God, do not fear His punishment but first be fearful of the loss of His love – He is what in us is the best. May God be kind to you!
