Because it isn't determined in advance, you get to decide rather than follow a transcendental command.

I donot know who camu is or was. But I can understand his viewpoint.

In my own way I will understand it , comparing to , say, food. The body does not ask for or need any special food, pasta, pizza, barbeequed chicken. It will be satisfied with any food that will stop that hungry feeling. So is the case with liquid. No colas needed.Still we have evolved in the art of culiniary culture. We call it civilization or cultural advancement.

Meaning of Life is similar. Any simple meaning will do. But , the philosophers , around the world , have gone distances to explain the various meanings. You can accept or reject it. Parhaps Camu chose to have the easy way out. Attach no meaning to life and take it as it is. So there is no search.

In passing I should mention that Camu also gives a meaning to life , calling it "no meaning". That is his meaning.

I don't know what he said, but my guess would be that life without meaning is better because it allows you to create your own meaning. If you are born into a life with a set meaning, that is your purpose. You have no say in the matter; if you dislike your purpose you are screwed, and even if you like your purpose you are little better than a slave. Again I don't know what Camus says exactly, but I've studied existentialism and that's kind of the generic existentialist answer.

Here's a suggestion. I know a fantastic way to find out why Camus thinks anything that he thinks.

Read the book that was assigned in your existentialim class. Exotic suggestion I know. If you read it, and still have trouble understanding it, get a tutor or buy one of the companion notes. Do you think your prof assigned the book for his OWN edification?

Well, just b'coz somebody has a problem does not mean that there is no meaning to life!!!! There is so much.I guess it is human nature to see always a small dark spot when there is all white around it.This is my percepion to life.

It's not....Life without meaning is hopeless, and therefore full of despair and pain.

think of the alternative to life. death or nothingness. so, even if it's meaningless, its better, no?
