Or is it a combination of both?

Do you have to have natural talent to sing well? Can you sing at a professional level without taking lessons?

I'm a Euphonium player and I just started looking at the Arban book for Cornet, Trumpet, Euphonium T.C. Etc. and I was wondering if it would be wise to skip some parts of the method and only work on things that I really need to work on or should I just start at the beginning. Any Suggestions?

I sing in a women's barbershop chorus and quartet. One of the things that our director and coaches talk about is that we need to improve our breath control. How do you do this?

When I sing, it feels like my voice has to strain or be forced to go down to a low note, and it sounds horrible. Like, if I'm singing along to a low part in a song, I have to sing it higher because my voice doesn't seem good with low notes....But sometimes I hit them and make them good. Any tips on how to somehow "open up" my throat to make them come out easier?

I have an audition for a performing arts course in a couple of weeks, and i have to perform a monologue, i realise that this is an acting piece, but could i sing as i enter the stage and as i leave if it seems like that would be something the character would do, the reason i ask is that i major in singing and i feel like the character im playing would sing as a reasurance mechanism. Ive asked this question before and ive got a very mixed response on wether it would be ok to do so.

P.S please take into accout that the character i play is a depressed individual who feels very alone in the world. I wont be singing to show that part of my tallent off i will just be doing it casually as to fit the characters persona.

Thanx xx

I absolutely adore musical theatre, and it is what i plan to do in my life, but my voice teacher and i have discovered i have an amazing dramatic soprano voice, and along with all my belt song, head voice, mixed, upbeat, and ballads, he's now adding a Opera category to my repetory. He wants me to go out and find good Opera songs for a High Legit Soprano, or even for Altos (Considering that's what I am in musical theatre). Promblem is is I have NO idea about any operas, infact the only thing/songs I know about opera are the things/ones handed to my from my choir teacher.

So any suggestions for good Opera songs for a female, doesn't matter voice part.

I live in a small town and want to learn to sing cause im small and all my older cousins were and are very athletic and I just dont fit the bill.Singing would be the only way to get recognized for me in the family.

What is the average price for lessons,or what did you pay?

How long did it take you to master what you wanted to.

basically tell me your expirience.

Thank You

Well, Im decent at singing, but I dont think Im good at the breathing part. Like, its hard for me to be loud for a very long time withought taking another breath, you know what I mean? So I was just wondering if there are any breathing excersises that will help increase my lung capacity to help my breath last longer. Thank you very much

I once found one where they played some notes, you guessed which ones you thought they were, and it told you if you were right. I'm also interested in sites that'll just play notes one at a times so that I can hear the differences. Also, I'm interested in any sites that give techniques for improving your scales and hitting certain notes. Maybe there're some that let you choose the note you want to play so that you can work on just that one...?

I'm new to this, so any help would be appreciated. I've got a poor ear, but I want to improve it and don't really have the time or money for professional lessons.

I'm especially interested in Montreal... Are people generally "used to" a musician's need to practice? I wouldn't have access to a practice room...

I am taking guitar lessons every saturday but I seriously suck. I practice at least four times a week. I look up tabs of my favorite songs on the net. Is there anything I can do to improve my skills? I love playing the guitar and I love rock. I am willing to try almost anything. Well thanks <3

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone out there has done opera productions before either in school or professionally and knows if you have to have dance training, what kind, how much, etc. to be in opera productions.

You can walk through fire
Make the north wind blow
Squeeze 'n' tease me honey
When you shake your body
You move my soul
Let me be your lover
Won't you let me be your child
Take me through your universe
Y'know that when you smile
You drive me wild

Love child
Driving me wild
Love child
Always teasin' me

You can ride your pony
Day dream in fairy tales
All I know is I need more
When I see you dance the seven veils

I contact a lady that would help me take opera lessons. But she charges $50 for one hour of lessons. Can any one that has had lessons before tell me if this is too much or just right?
