Well, evidently it's a passion for you. And I tell my daughter why be scared? Its for you and no one else. The people that make fun of you are the people who are jealous. Get up there & belt it!!! Let go and let GOD!!! That's what I tell my girl.

You didn't say for what or why.

As a profession the only thing that pays less is writer.

Going club rate for singer/musician has been and still is $50 a night for 4 sets of 45 minutes

While I'll admit that's $15 an hour you may only work two nights a week so thats $100 a week

It's not impossible to make $2,000 a week on the local scene, but it takes times, years, experience and good agent to help you.

If you're going after a record deal, I hope you have friends in the business or $200,000 investment money or the majors won't even talk to you.

They don't finace your tour and only finance 50 markets out of the 400 required to break a record. YOU are required to the do the rest.

A label contract runs $10 years, they pay you $50,000 up front and OWN YOUR LIFE You can't work for anyone else becuse you contracted to work for minimum wage full time for them for 10 years.

The only way you make money is with 2 hits off each of 3 albums and a lawyer who demands an audit or tries to get another company to buy out your contract. No hits, they can dump you after the first year.

Do undestand what show biz is all about.

The best way to get started is to either find some singing books or find a good teacher. A private instructor will teach you the proper technique fundamentals to get and keep that voice in shape for years to come. I can not stress enough how important it is to learn the correct way to sing, many great voices are ruined today because they never learned how to use it correctly. Congratulations on you decision!

Look for a music teacher at a local school - they are always happy to hear that people want to sing! They'll lead you in the right direction. In the meantime, keep singing in the shower, and any other chance you get.

Well you have already started and the next step would be to tell your family and friends and even perform for them. Then move on to performing at school functions and church and before you know it, we will be seeing you on American Idol or just on our TV's. Good luck and best wishes. Now open your mouth and let that singing voice out!!!

I think this is a matter of a lack of confidence. When you are confident in your voice then you want to show it to the world. I think you should build up your confidence and see a voice teacher. Aside from helping you sing better they give you confidence in what you are doing.

Best of luck

if you're in school, sign up for chorus or vocals class to develop your skill. you won't feel awkward because that's what the class is for. you can get teachers' opinions and they can direct you to voice teachers and such from there. auditioning for musicals is intimidating, but the experience will definitely improve your confidence in singing.

if you think your really good, and you really lone to do that then i say just tell your parents or someone. maybe you can get into lessons and start off slow. If your a shy person wait a while, dont rush yourself its not something you have to do, remember that.
