... without having to actually take a class or join a choir or something? I kind of want to sing in the talent show, and I really like to, but I'm not sure if I'm good enough. I heard my friend and she's really REALLY good...
I don't mean like rock or songs like that, just... songs. like Phantom of the Opera (but without too much soprano) or songs that don't require much using voices specially like in modern music.
please, please please!!! and thank you very much!

I would assume that they would because a string instrument should never have all its strings removed but I just want to make sure.

I'm working on piece for solo/ensemble in 2 1/2 weeks, it's a class A and I really would like to develop a vibrato or at least work on it for the future. Any tips? I've been playing about 4 years and am a good player, not brilliant but good. I can sing with a vibrato, but that doesn't really help because I've always been able to do it naturally.

I'm trying to learn classical acoustic (nylon string) guitar. Are there any programs that will show a piece of sheet music and highlight the notes like Karaoke / Metronome / Follow-the-Bouncing-Ball type stuff?

Ideally I'd be able to import new songs (maybe by MIDI files?) or edit new songs somehow. Metronomes don't really work well for me b/c I get "off-beat" and fall behind, especially when the song has a complicated rhythm (a metronome won't help me understand how to play a 1/8th note ligado followed by a triplet).

Would be especially nice if it works on Mac/Linux too!

I've picked up guitar strickly by ear. I'm tired with my lack of mathmatical knowledge in music. Does anyone know of a website that says which chords to play in which keys and/or how to solo well. (I already have scales for each individual fret)

What does it mean when somebody say "to have a jazz guitar 'professionally set up' or 'set up'"? I have played classical/acoustic guitar all my life but am moving into a jazz-electric guitar (hollow body, single cut, etc), and I would like to know what new terms like this one that I'm seeing on discussion boards mean.

Today I almost had to present my page long speech, however there was not enough time and so it was posponed... Although I had practiced a number of times, I didn't factor in my heart rate. When I was prepared to go today, my heart was racing and I surely would have had a tougher time with pauses and breathing had I gone. Are there any good ways of keeping your heart rate down right before a presentation?

I'm in junior high, and am a really awesome singer. But the problem is, I'm too shy to perform in front of other people! Trust me, I would if I could! I missed out on my chance at the school talent show, but I want to make it next year. I can't even sing in front of my friends or family!!! They don't even KNOW I can sing! Any tips on how to overcome my fear of the stage?

I just can't. When I lie on my back so that my I use my diaphram and inhale the biggest breath I aim for Forte or Fortissimo, but can only go to Mezzo-forte without sounding like I'm yelling.
