ok is NYU (college in newyork) or California Institute of the Arts (in california) for me to major in acting singing and dancing. outside of college i want to still work on my music like go to studios and record producers so can u please tell me which one is better like the campus dorms and where i can get discorverd better and like a little quicker.

NYU
Has an incredible program. Without a doubt if you are accepted you should go there. they have a world renown theater program and some of the best opporutnities in the country. WHile you are in school you should focus on learning then you can worry about getting discovered......
New York has much more music than California if you want to pursue music in addition to Acting ... also NYU has incredible dancing
Also NY is a great place to go to college, and the poeple at NYU are really cool you'll meet a bunch of people not just actors adn artists like you would at CIA

The odds of getting accepted into a BFA program at either school are extremely low, because both programs rank in the top 10 in acting programs. A degree from either would be a fabulous way to jump start a career.
As to which is better, it is personal preference. You should go to each school's website and look at their program. Then research the area where each is located and determine which would be a better fit for you.
However, if you want to act, sing, and dance while in school and still have time to go to recording studios and meet with producers, chances are you are too unfocused to get into either. Both universities have an absurdly focused and intense curriculum which generally will consume all of your time. Also, if your grammar and spelling are any indication of your intelligence and talent, you will be laughed out of an audition for either.
I have a friend at ACT (American Conservatory Theatre, another top ten school) for his MFA who is in classes from 9 a.m. to 10p.m. Monday through Saturday, and has rehearsal Sunday.

I have been involved in acting a a hobby for many years and I would go to New York - with the New York theater scene I think it would be much easier there. The only problem is I dont' know the difference in the cost of living between NY and California

I would say California.
California is the home of hundreds(maybe more) of recording studios.
I have a friend who is going to California right now.
About a year after she went she became involed in recording her own music.
She is still going to ffinish school though.

you can get discovered anywhere these days, location doesnt matter when there is the internet, but for location purposes NYU would have you closer to what your after....but i would be expecting anything to happen "quicker" based of location anymore...your talent and ability to make yourself known are what will get you discovered...you got a better shot getting discovered on youtube these days then by a show...you reach more people

If I were in your shoes I would definently go to the 1 in CA, in my opinion it's equal to NYU, but if your looking to actually get discovered this one is a much better choice! Have fun in collage! Hope I helped!

Ill say its all about cali its more opportunityther then ny, people go to ny to shop come on now girlfriend get real who njust go to ny,to promote inschool,i could see if you were ready meaning done with school,but your not so go to cali and keep your head in those books .NY,is a place were rappers go to getrescued from the hood. If you wont to be a model look up some agencies in cali and give them a call. Know dont get me rung im not going to just dog NYC like that cause I wish I could goback the know they gote some fine ****** with doe you feel me!!!

New York is better for broadway and television, but California is better for movies; as far as being discovered goes. I don't know about the colleges; just go with the cheapest. Just a thought.

the schools in New York are better and will look better on your resume. I think there is a better chance of discovery in CA. I was having Ribs one time at Tony Romas and Samuel Jackson was sitting behind us. That kind of thing happens every where out there. It really depends on your goals though.

california institute of arts because you can star in commercials in your spare time and earn some money.it doesn't matter where you live just try to keep the fire burning in hollywood. moonraven/cinderella
