Look, Fender strats are the way to go. You should'nt have to get a cheaply made squire. I think for about 400 you should be able to get a standard made-in-mexico Strat.

Samick guitars. They're a Korean guitar, so you'll get more for your money. Mine plays every bit as good as an American Fender. I'm sure they sell them locally, if not search online.
