I would assume that they would because a string instrument should never have all its strings removed but I just want to make sure.

If you come across a guitar that someone is trying to sell without strings, resist the temptation to buy it, no matter how inexpensive it seems, unless they put strings on or allow you to. A guitar with no strings usually means someone is trying to hide a warped neck, or a problem with the nexk nut or tailpiece. This is often a minor repair, but it is just as likely to mean that the guitar is unusable and your inexpensive instrument turned into a lemon that no one can ade.

Guitars almost always come with strings attached (pun inteneded) and the strings that are on the guitar are usually stretched out or past their prime. You are going to want to get a set to put on, and it seems that if that person wants to make the sale, they will be gracious enough to put on that first set for you. (especially if you buy them there) Keep the old set in the case that the new set came in. You never know when you need a string to throw on until you can get to the store for a new set, and there should be a few days of life left in the old set, if you are in a pinch.

The other reason to take off the strings of a guitar is to emphasis that you as buying it "as is!" This is almost always problematic unless you are picking up the guitar for parts. I would never purchase an instrument unless I could at least hear it being played and ensure for myself that there is some possiblity that I can eventually play it. Without strings, it's no sale!

If you pay more than ten bucks for the guitar it will come with strings. It's bad for the neck to take all the strings off at once; usually when you change the strings you change one at a time. Of course you will have to tune it; but then you should tune the guitar every time you play it.

Hello Sarah T

Yes, they always have strings. I have bought 5 new guitars to date, and they all had strings. Often, they are not the best strings, so you may want to buy a better set for your guitar. Your music store can usually tell you which strings are best for your particular instrument.

The retailer who sells you the instrument will put strings on it since it is ready-to-go and therefore you are more likely to purchase it. If you know that you want specific string material, you can probably select the instrument and have it restrung with your selection.

If you buy it at a music store it definitly will. I can't say for sure about a catolog guitar. 3 out of 3 of my guitars came with strings on them.

Most guitars are sold with strings.
Many people buy a higher grade set of strings and restring them later.

Yes, they do, but if you buy and inexpensive or student guitar, the strings are usually cheap and inferior, so you may want to replace them.
