American Idol has always been a freak show, and now they are suffering because they have been exploiting weak talent from the beginning, and this series, with Sanjaya still in the running, is the payoff.

The only reason millions of Americans watch the first few weeks of AI is because they feature hundreds of weird, creepy, deluded, no-talents who either actually believe they have talent when they are so supremely un-talented, or they themselves just want to get on TV. Also, we live in a culture where if you somehow get seen on television by millions of people, others want to attach themselves to you. Remember William Hung? He's made a nice piece of change from not getting past the judges during the initial audition phase.

Now, because of the relentless promotion of horrible acts during the early auditions, Idol can't seem to get past the "train wreck" aspect of the show when they've finally arrived to the serious competition when it should be all about the singing. Let's not forget that Simon Cowell has launched a career from being an acid-tongued critic of the freak show set. Sanjaya, aside from being a young kid with a so-so voice and an affectionate demeanor, is exploiting his hair and his quirkiness into a potential singing career for weepy, pre-pubescent girls. Make no mistake about it, if the producers of AI didn't want Sanjaya on their show, they wouldn't have focused their cameras on that young, crying, fan during his performance last week for so long, and much less would they have allowed Seacrest to bring her up on stage. If Sanjaya Malakar could sell a few more cans of Coca cola, or make a few extra bucks for AT&T with fans text messaging votes by the millions for Sanjaya, then they don't give a rat's tail if he could sing or not. They only care if he can capture an audience. None of this is lost on creators of websites such as Votefortheworst.com who urge voters to cast their ballot for the weakest singers, in this case Malakar, because they sense the exploitation of the “worst” talent by the producers as well.

When Simon Cowell says "I don't think it matters what we say anymore", referring to Sanjaya, he does care. He cares because while the show is delivering singers like Sanjay to weeping little girls, armored trucks are backing into the Banks where Simon, Paula, and Randy keep their money delivering more cash.

It's not about talent, it's about profit. American Idol and their producers have shot themselves in the foot with the exploitation of freakish contestants to the point where they can't say that they have a singing competition anymore with a straight face, and if they attempt to remedy the situation, they stand to lose a fortune.

the fact of the issue is that Sanjaya replaced into no longer a competent singer in any aspects. Even his ultimate overall performance, Besame Mucho, did no longer evaluate to most of the frontrunner's worst performances. i think of the judges thoguht he did need to make the precise 24, yet that replaced into via fact there have been worse singers, plus he did ok for the duration of his auditions. yet beginning together with his strange overall performance in the time of the 2nd week of the semifinals, the Sanjaya contreversy began. This replaced into a similar week that he stayed over AJ Tabaldo, who replaced into between the final adult males on the instruct. a similar element occurred the subsequent week with Sundance. in fact, he replaced into the only on the hook with the guy being voted off for the 1st 4 weeks of the stay instruct. (With Rudy, with AJ, with Sundance, and with Brandon, all of them leaving with Sanjaya risk-free.) After he replaced into interior the backside 2 the precise 12 week, Vote For the Worst had extensive fulfillment, and he replaced into no longer interior the backside for many weeks, that's whilst he went abode. The week he went abode, i don't comprehend how he did. it ought to have been that u.s. have been given unwell of him. VFTW might have been slacking. that's available that he did no longer get the backside votes, yet American Idol replaced the outcomes (in spite of the fact that I doubt it.) I additionally heard that usa followers do in comparison to that music he sang. i don't comprehend if Idol will regain its followers' have faith. perhaps the individuals who did no longer like Sanjaya will say that via fact that he finally have been given sent abode, they're going to have faith Idol returned. Or they might say that he replaced into on for too long, and that they're going to now no longer have faith the instruct. the individuals who did like Sanjaya might say that via fact that he had this way of long-term they're going to have faith Idol. Or they might say that via fact that they might have ditched their regulations besides Sanjaya, they gained't have faith Idol. universal, this might properly be a large question, and the respond is it relies upon on the guy.

I think it means that American Idol has hit rock bottom if outside influences like Howard Stern and "vote for the worst" websites can convince people to vote for him.
