A friend of mine is tone deaf - he cannot sing at all, yet he tries anyway and often embarrasses me in public and in front of my professional musician friends. Sometimes, he starts on the right pitch, and after a few sentences, he's completely in a different key from the pianist! If the pianist transposes to try to catch up, he will transpose his singing again and even sing in-between keys! I have "absolute pitch" and while he obviously does not, he claims that he might since the recent discovery of my abilities. I tested him once to try to end this and out of ten tones, he "guessed" one right, one miss by the semitone, three missed by a fifth, and the rest were complete guesses with no similarity. I tried again with chords and he could not identify the root at all - and he used to be a music major. Despite this, he continues to tell everyone that he is an extremely competent musician at the end of all of my concerts and tries to take the credit for my hard work. Why does he do it?

i wanna learn to play the piano but it's WAY to expensive to actually buy one, so i have to get a keyboard with features similar to an acoustic piano such as weighted keys and such so i can practice at home.... but i'm wondering if there's any point in taking piano lessons when i can just buy a keyboard with lessons in it?? is it better to learn to play the piano and move on to keyboard because i'm pretty sure i'm going to b stuck wit a keyboard after i stop taking lessons? and should i stop taking lessons once i learn all of the basics? beacuse i'm one of those people who get's dedicated to something and will practice with no complaints at all... and also how long will it take to learn the basics and is there anything else that i should know ?

am i cursed
maybe stuck in a web
am i ever going to reach the stars that i want to hold

i am a hostage in a world of black and grey
lost a a city of dispare
trembling from fear of what happens next

how do i change the path
the path i do not want
the path that leads only to distruction
distruction of self

i don't

i cannot reach those stars
the black and grey is my world
the city is mine

i do not change my path
distruction... is my path

I try not to get too big for my pants, if you know what I mean. I am considered by many to be an expert at the instrument but I know I am not as disciplined as calssical musicians are. I also know that as far as improvisation goes I beat them hands down. I can still grow though..I hear Steve Vai and I am amazed..until I reproduce it...then when I hear it again I am amazed all over again...I suppose I am just a lover of guitar music and I am not going to change that any time soon..I love it so much...anyone out there like me?

I'm in choir, and it seems like my voice starts to strain after we do warm-ups. I actually have been practicing over the summer so I don't really understand why--and it's been this way for years, too.

Luckily, I managed to get the opportunity to visit New York! I'm actually going in November, and I was wondering whihc of those musicals I should see. I want one I can take a small child to (believe me, when he sees something on stage, he's as quiet as when he is sleeping).
