I'm learning "Amarilli, mia bella" for a performence tonight, and It says Moderato afferruoso. I am familliar with "moderato, but confused on the other part. I am thinking "with affection", "affected", or "affirmed".

Please, help.

Moderato affetuoso

Yeah with afection.

Amarilli mia bella
Non credi del mio cor
dolce desio
d'esser' tu l'amor' mio
credilo pur'
e se timor' t'assale
dubitar non ti vale
aprimi il petto
e vedrai scritto in core
Amarilli è il mio amore!

Amarilli My beautiful one
You don't believe at my sweet
desire in my heart,
that you are my love.
Believe it, and if you
feel any fear,
please do not doubt to
open my chest and you will see
wrote in my heart:
"Amarilli is my love!

You need to sing this with passion and afection, the "tempo" is Moderato, that means not too fast and no too slow.

You need to always traslate the words in a literal translation. Why? because you need to know what means every word. That will help you to create a mood in your singing.

Many singers think Amarilli mia bella is a sad song. It is not, is a declaration of love.

Keep this in mine next time you sing it!

Good Luck
