Okay, it is from the book Eldest. I know it has a few errors, but I want to know your opinions on the content.

M. I had no choice! And after Thorn hatched for me, Galbatorix forced both of us to swear loyalty to him in the ancient language. We cannot disobey him now.

E. You have become your father.

M. No, not my father. I’m stronger than Morzan ever was. Galbatorix taught me things about magic you’ve never even dreamed of….Spells so powerful, the elves dare not utter them, cowards that they are. Words in the ancient language that were lost until Galbatorix discovered them. Ways to manipulate energy…Secrets, terrible secrets, that can destroy your enemies and fulfill all your desires.

E. Things that should remain secrets.

M. If you knew, you would not say that. Brom was a dabbler, nothing more. And the elves, bah! All they can do is hide in their forest and wait to be conquered. You look like an elf now. Did Islanzadi do that to you? No matter. I’ll learn the truth soon enough.

Me. When Eragon finds a rock in the woods, he has no clue what an adventure it will lead to. The so called rock hatches into a beautiful dragon named Saphira that is to be his lifelong companion. When he has to run away from his hometown, the local storyteller accompanies him. His goal is to capture and murder the evil, bat-like creatures who killed his uncle. The story unfolds when he learns that he must overthrow the evil tyrant who has captivated the entire land of Alagasia for many years as a dragon rider. Along the way, he meets many friends including the beautiful elf Arya and a mysterious traveler named Murtagh. After fighting Galbatorix’s minions alongwith an army of dwarves and members of secret group called the Varden who have lived for many years inside of a mountain where they secretly oppose the evil king’s rule. After the battle, Murtagh and Ajihad disappear. Eragon goes to live with the elves so he can continue his riders training while the members of the Varden escape to Surda which is a country that succeded from Alagasia. Eragon rushes to Surda and gets there just in time to fight in a battle between the army of the empire, and the Varder-Surda alliance. This engaging confrontation is taking place within a short distance of the battlefield.

E. What now? Are you here to kill me?

M. Of course not. Galbatorix wants you alive.

E. What for?

M. You don’t know? Ha! There’s a fine jest. It’s not because of you; it’s because of her. The dragon inside Galbatorix’s last egg, the last dragon egg in the world, is male. Saphira is the only female dragon in existence. If she breeds, she will be the mother of her entire race. Do you see now? Galbatorix doesn’t want to eradicate the dragons. He wants to use Saphira to rebuild the Riders. He can’t kill you, either of you, if his vision is to become reality….And what a vision it is, Eragon. You should hear him describe it, then you might not think so badly of him. Is it evil that he wants to unite Alagaesia under a single banner, eliminate the need for war, and restore the Riders?

E. He’s the one who destroyed the Riders in the first place!

M. And for good reason. They were old, fat, and corrupt. The elves controlled them and used them to subjugate humans. They had to be removed so that we could start anew.

E. (pace back and forth) How can you justify causing so much suffering on the basis of a madman’s ravings? Galbatorix has done nothing but burn and slaughter and amass power for himself. He lies. He murders. He manipulates. You know this! It’s why you refused to work for him in the first place. (Gentler) I can understand that you were compelled to act against you will and that you aren’t responsible for killing Hrothgar. You can try to escape, though. I’m sure that Arya and I could devise a way to neutralize the bonds Galbatorix had laid upon you….Join me Murtagh. You could do so much for the Varden. With us, you would be praised and admired, instead of cursed, feared, and hated.

M. You cannot help me, Eragon. Now one but Galbatorix can release us from our oaths, and he will never do that…He knows our true names, Eragon…We are his slaves forever.

E. Then let us kill the two of you.

M. Kill us! Why should we allow that?

E. It would free you from Galbatorix’s control. And it would save the lives of hundreds, if not thousands of people. Isn’t that a noble enough cause to sacrifice yourself for?

M. (Shakes head) Maybe for you, but life is still too sweet for me to part with it so easily. No stranger’s life is more important than Thorn’s or my own.

E. No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

M. Letta

(Various movements in which M constrains E and he tries to move around.)

M. You cannot hope to compete with me. No one can, except for Galbatorix. It would be so easy to take you back to Uru’baen.

E. Don’t. Let me go.

M. You tried to kill me.

E. And you would have done the same in my position. We were friends once. We fought together. Galbatorix can’t have twisted you so much that you’ve forgotten…If you do this, Murtagh, you’ll be lost forever.

M. I was ordered to try and capture you and Saphira. I have tried…Make sure we don’t cross paths again. Galbatorix will have me swear additional oaths in the ancient language that will prevent me from showing you such mercy when next we meet.

E. You’re doing the right thing.

M. Perhaps. But before I let you go…(reaches for blade) If I have become my father, then I will have my fathers blade. Thorn is my dragon, and a thorn he shall be to all our enemies. It is only right, then, that I should also wield the sword Misery. Misery and Thorn, a fit match. Besides, Zar’roc should have gone to Morzan’s eldest son, not his youngest. It is mine by right of birth. (smiles) I never told you my mother’s name, did I? And you never told me yours. I’ll say it now: Selena. Selena was my mother and your mother. Morzan was our father. The Twins figured out the connection while they were digging around in your head. Galbatorix was quite interested to learn that particular piece of information.

E. You’re lying!

M. You and I, we are the same, Eragon. Mirror images of one another. You can’t deny it.

E. You’re wrong. We’re nothing alike. I don’t have a scar on my back anymore.

M. So be it. I take my inheritance from you, brother. Farewell.

Me. Then he retrieved his helm from the ground and pulled himself onto Thorn. Eragon surveyed the Burning Plains and the aftermath of the battle, for the battle was over. Now that the fighting had subsided, the hawks and eagles, the crows and ravens, descended like a shroud over the field. They had won, but he had lost.

sing-a-long?

Okay, I'm a theatre major and have been performing for a long time now. I've done numerous musicals and gotten leads, but I feel I'll never get cast in those "pretty parts" because I have a very deep voice. I've been told numerous times that my voice doesnt match my look. I'm ver petite and slender but my voice is very low and has a jazzy sound to it. I can comfortably sing an E above middle C but anything beyond that is really weak. I've heard many people tell me to use my "head voice" but I dont understand it. I hear women belt out really high notes and I just cant do it! How can I get there? Is it even possible?

I am 19 years old.

I have trained in opera since I was 12. and stopped last year when all 7 of the schools I applied to turned me down and said "something sounded wrong".

I went and got my vocal chords checked and my hearing... chords were fine. my hearing is 52% gone. and irreplacable due to a dead nerve in both ears. No one knows what happened. I got hearing aids and went to my backup college as a political science major. I am doing very well with a 3.75 gpa but I feel like a part of me is dead. Opera is no more. I cant bring myself to sing at all. And when I do sing it is all my belty songs (I am a very good belter and should have considered musical theater when I wad auditioning) A part of me died. I dreamt my whole life of being in music, and now its impossible. my dreams were gone no school or company would ever take a person with hearing aids.. its "unjust" as the lady who auditioned me at julliard told me.... where do i go from here....?

Do you start with a bass line or with a lead guitar line? Or do you start with lyrics and try to come up with a melody that fits the lyrics or is it the other way around where you choose lyrics to fit in to the melodic line?

I'm one of those people who wasn't born with an amazing ear. I don't have perfect pitch, nor was I even born with a good sense of relative pitch. I've been studying voice for over four years now, and although my tonal quality, breath support, and range have improved and increased dramatically since starting, I still greatly struggle with pitch (namely finding harmony, but still occasionally melody).

Is this something that can be taught and I should still continue to work at it, or should I just accept a possible fact that some people were born with good ears and that I am just not one of them?

I'm an aspiring actor who would love to work in musicals, but I know my ear will probably be the one thing that will greatly hinder my progress in finding work. There are other things I also need to work on (always perfecting my craft, no?), but this one is probably the biggest hurdle I'm trying to jump, and I'm wondering if I am ever going to be able to get over it.

Thanks for any help!

It was written by Jamie Andreas. Have you read it and applied the principles to your guitar practice? Does it work? Is it really necessary to practice in that manner? For me, it makes practice incredibly tense and boring. I can't stand practicing at such a slow pace. Is it still possible to become a good guitar player without using the principles of correct practice?

I've recently started singing in the school choir after taking voice lessons for years.

I've found myself above everyone musically, because of my extensive music background, however I've been told that I shouldn't get in the habit of under singing and that's what choral singer do. Is this true? And that you can tell when someones a soloist singer and a choir singer...

If so do you think I should stop singing in the choir to stay a solo singer because that's what I want to do with me life? Or should I keep going in the choir because its good?

Also whats the difference, I've been in many musical theatre shows, what the difference when you're singing in a chorus? Is there one? I was told you sink to the level of what kind of singer your singing with? Is this true?

I have asked this question before but I would like some other people's imput. I am thinking of doing a broadway themed bedroom because my life for the past 5 years has been theater and especially musical theater. I am thinking of painting one of my walls as a new york city skyline the other walls I will probably paint musical notes in bold colors. I also have thought of possibly putting red velvet stage curtains behind my bed and on my windows. I would then have show posters and playbills framed and put up on my walls. I was thinking of having a mirror above my desk with lights around it as they do in most dressing rooms. I also am going to see if hanging theatrical lights in the corners of my room would be possible. That is about all I have come up with so far so if you have any more ideas (no matter how radical they are lol!) I would be thankful. I am a teenage girl.

Is it true that it's hard to become a famous soprano?

Like, I know there are many of us out there, but really can I make a living out of it? And is it worth pursuing, because darn it I love to sing! I'm 13 right now, and have a wonderful teacher.

I did my grade 6 music exam last year and did well, and I've done a couple of gigs, and been in a few shows? Is there anything that's imperitive to being successful, besides studying a lot.

Yes, I do play piano, at a grade 3 leval, and I'm doing my grade 1 theory. Anything else that I'm missing a step in the puzzle? I'm thinking about getting a business card together?

Is this to rushed or should I wait until I'm older?

Thanks for all your help!

I'm not joking even though some of you are probably laughing. If I have a good voice will people still laugh at me? Will anyone be offended if I do this? Serious advice only please, I appreciate your thoughts, I've tried to sing everything else and all I want to do is sing gospel, I love it and it's where my heart is.

It's for Drama Competition. It has to be suitable for Jr. High students. We want something spectacular (go figure!). Last year two girls did a version of the Spartan Cheerleaders that had everyone rolling, and we'd like one that does that.
Any suggestions?
