i agree that someone who wants to be a singer should have raw talent and be able to sound great without the help of computers but unfortunately that's not how it is.

First off, there's not a very good chance that your friend is going to make it in the buisness if she is incapable of singing a capella. That said, you'd be surprised how much singing isn't just raw talent. Two years of voice lessons, that is, proper training, will most likely cause your friend to improve drastically. Though her natural tone may not be the prettiest thing now, with the right technique, and lots of practice time, it's possible for an average voice to become unlike anything you knew that your friend was capable of. Let her know that being a real singer is a lot of work, and suggest that she takes voice lessons in order to help her reach her goal.
But then again, if she really is that bad, just tell her the truth: it's never going to work out and she shouldn't waste her time.

Your friend does have a point to some extent, as a lot of the music industry seems to be concerned more with image than actual talent these days.
However, if your friend also spends much of her time stuffing her face, then she will lose out on the image front as well.
Even though recording studios can perform minor miracles, there still has to be some raw talent in evidence in the first place. How does your friend suggest she will get through any initial auditions to get a recording contract in the first place - she won't have the benefit of computer manipulation at an audition, will she?

Singing is something that everybody can learn and improve. Of course, some are more naturally skilled than others, but even a poor voice can be overcome by dedication, practice, and more practice. Even if you're content to sing in the shower, there are some things you can do to improve your voice. This is probably the best online course to improve your singing skills https://tr.im/GrXol
Your golden voice will be ringing out in no time!

Computers can help to a certain degree, but they can only alter so much before it starts to sound odd. I had that problem earlier this week with an interview where the buzzing from the person's cell phone (a phone interview) was horribly loud. You can isolate frequencies and you can raise or lower them, but it's always obvious. Her best bet might be to take voice lessons--who knows, there may be a problem she was unaware of and she may sound much better once it's corrected.

Natural talent is very important when you want to pursue such a difficult career and if your friend expects to go far by having everything done for her, then she is very wrong. You have to work for what you get.Getting ahead in a difficult profession requires avid faith in yourself. That is why some people with mediocre talent, but with great inner drive, go so much further than people with vastly superior talent. :)

If you want to keep her as a friend, do not tell her she that she shouldn't sing. That would cause a lot of drama. But I do agree... singing takes talent.

singing live is very important....you live around six flags....?
have her do a cd live there...after they record it play it at a party and see how many people run...that should tell her something..
if you don't want to embarrass your friend that much just try to be honest with her...if shes your friend she should believe you.GET her to do kareoke in a gay bar...they will booo her right off the stage if shes real bad.....they are real honest there! good luck!

Singing is all about the voice, recorded that is! Anyone you actually see "singing" on stage is lip syncing. If your friend actually makes it big, don't worry about it because they won't actually use her voice.
