There's not much of a difference, except the tone the word "thespian" implies.

I think the word "thespian" is used more to describe really serious and dedicated actors. That's not so much what it actually means, but you don't often hear people who aren't taken seriously within the acting community refer to themselves or be referred to as a thespian.

The noun definition of thespian is Actor, adjective - relating to the drama - dramatic role.

Although, many call themselves actors/actresses.... those who can totally embrace the stage and/or screen, and treat it as though it is a passionate love affair, able to bring to life the stories put forth so that their audience can live it for that moment, are true Thespians.... others, well ..... they are just merely entertaining performers. Anyone can perform...very badly at times. Thespians live the role to perfect it.

not 100% sure but
a thespian is a shakespearian style
a member of the great stage acting traditions
tat date back to forever like say olivier or coward
an actooor is someone like say cruise or stallone
you know hollywood etc
