Phantom of the Opera - beautiful music and scenery. I love the blend of voices. I think they ruined some of the songs when they made the movie.
Les Miserable - very cool staging, wonderful music and who doesn't love a good cry!
Wicked - I love the discourse in the music. Poor Elphaba she's so misunderstood.
Jekyll & Hyde - unfortunately not on Broadway anymore. Wonderful music if you get a good man in the lead. Classic tale of our evil side.
Cats - also no longer on Broadway, but it does tour. Have to love the dancing and the costumes.
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat - also touring. It's just a fun show, especially when the Pharroh shows up.
Miss Saigon - Where else would you see a helicoper indoors! Lovely songs.
I could go on and on. Love anything by Andrew Lloyd Webber!

Wow, this is a tough question. My favorite Broadway musical would have to be " Les Miserables ". This play has all sorts of excellent characters inter-twining with each other. Within the play, you see anger, dispair, laughter, joy, and of course love. Inspector Javert, who believes he the embodiment of law. He realizes at the end that even though his heart was in the right place, he went about his job the wrong way. Knowing that he should have helped the people when they are in despair then punish them when they break the law, just to survive. Jean Valjean in the beginning starts to figure out that one man can change things around him for the better, without having to be a thief in the night to just live. Eponine who is on her death bed thought that nobody in the world has a heart until meeting Jean Valjean. He then promises her that her daughter will be taken care of. I read the book, which made the play more enjoyable to watch, and understood the play even more. The music and the lyrics are so engrossing that, it is hard to control yourself from singing along with the actors. I saw this for the 1st time as a student in high school, and 2 more times after. I am so happy that it is back on Broadway and hope it does extremely well on their second run.

Some of my favorite musicals would have to be Wicked because the show has AMAZING music that expresses real feelings and emotions through the lyrics and the singing. I also LOVE the musical HONK! because I was in the show twice and I have real sentimental memories from the show. My favorite character that I have ever played also came from that show as I played the devious cat. I also really love Monty Pythons Spamalot because the whole show is hysterical and makes absolutely no sense plot-wise. I love the fact that spamalot spoofs other musicals and theater people would really get a kick out of the humor. The Phantom of the Opera is a classic and is one of my absolutely FAVORITE shows. I love the story and the songs can make you laugh and cry all at the same time. Each of these shows are very different but I love them all the same. MUSICALS ROCK!!!

My absolute favourite musical is the little known Ahrens and Flaherty musical, "Once on this Island". It's got a great score reflecting the spirit of the Antilles and a touching book that will make you cry.
Other favourites include "Les Miserables", "Moulin Rouge", "South Park:Bigger, Longer, Uncut" (Hey, it's got a very witty score!), Chicago, Wicked, Chess (just for the score), How to Succeed in Business..., Into the Woods, Gypsy, Blood Brothers.

Oklahoma!, The Sound of Music, The King and I, and White Christmas
I like love stories, I love the music from those musicals. I loved Christopher Plummer in The Sound of Music. My husband thinks I'm silly for liking musicals.
Now, what are your favorites and why?
