My professor told me I was given Adolf Hitler to write a research paper on. It has to be about something he did or stood for, beyond the obvious. He wants us to dig deep to find something. It has to be 10 pages double sided. It is for a class on the Holocaust, I guess I got the bad apple.

When I initially started thinking about it, I was primarily only considering days when the United States was at war with another country; August 6th or August 9th (1945) due to how many casualties that we inflicted on Japan and factoring any other battlefront deaths. Obviously as a percentage of total population, it would be nothing compared with warfare from thousands of years ago so my question is only sticking to shear numbers....A lot of things to consider, mass extinctions (holocaust, other attempted extinctions or complete extinctions, Darfur, Japan marching through China at the beginning of WWII). I don't care about who the casualties were, as long as they can be verified through conventional sources. The only reason I posed this question relative to wartime is because it is much easier to research wartime casualties. Of course, the ultimate goal is to define the day in which more people (regardless of race, creed, or color) were slaughtered than on any other day.

What were the chances of USA or France colonizing New Zealand? Do you think it would have happened? Maybe the lifestyle of current New Zealanders would be different? How would New Zealand be under US or French rule? Would the things that happened in the past be the same under a different country? (eg. Treaty of Waitangi)

Need opinions and answers, going to use it for a Social Studies project. Thanks to all contributors! :)

Jesus made a pretty good mark in the history books, after all we record all of history in reference to his birth BC/AD. If he was just a normal person or prophet, its unlikely that we would use that as a marking point.

The First english colonists were treated, for the most part, like friends by most Native American tribes they met. As time passed, the colonists ignored Native Americans while infringing on their lands. As a result, some Native Americans attacked colonial settlements spawning counter attacks and uprisings against friendly tribes. Are the colonists at fault for failing to better understand their situation and dealing with it more peacefully? If so, why??

First off, I'm a Music Major, and we were discussing Beethoven's 9th Symphony. I noticed that it required a CD all to itself.

It got me thinking. If I remember correctly, the original reason for the invention of the CD was to hold a rather long piece of classical or romantic era music, as I seem to remember seeing it on "Who wants to be a millionare?" or some show of the likes.

Is my memory correct? And if so, what song was it created for?

Or do I just have bad memory at the age of 19?
