i have opened my book, i have gotten 38 definitions done, and well unfortunately they are not in there, as the instruction on the paper said if i cant find them in the book i should look online, and that too i have done, but the definitions for these i have gotten are not the definitions i want, so i figured if anyone knows a definition of these it would be very helpful.

~Yes, I do. You would too if you would simply open a book or type a few buzz words into a search engine.

Edit:
By on line, I doubt that your teacher was suggesting that you asked an azzhole like me on Yahoo!Answers to help you cheat with your homework. Be that as it may, the Iroquois Confederation was a conglomeration of Indian tribes consisting of the Seneca, Cayuga, Oneida, Onondaga and Mohawk (later joined by the Tuscarora when they got kicked out of North Carolina by their pacifist and loving Red cousins) who were centered in New York and never amounted to much numerically but whose system of laws was incorporated into the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution of the US. Their military stratagems (yes, the peace loving Native Americans did have a lengthy and volatile military history) were adapted by the colonial militias. All you had to do was pop "Iroquois Confederation" into a search to find this.

Salutary neglect was the policy of the Crown and Parliament whereby the Colonials were allowed to ignore British law and screw the crown on the taxes rightfully due so as to keep the peace in the hinterlands. When the cost of upkeep of the colonies became too onerous to let colonials skate anymore, the Crown and Parliament decided to reduce the taxes and actually collect them. The result of that foolish blunder was the act of terrorism we so proudly hail as the "Boston Tea Party", among others. Again, by typing "salutary neglect" into a search engine, you would know this.

The halfway covenant was a scheme by the church whereby its recalcitrant flock could be induced to continue to finance the church while only going along with the parts of church doctrine and dogma as the payee was willing to swallow. The PC definition is worded slightly differently, but again, pop the term in and the answer will pop out.

As to freedom of conscience, you will have to read the various philosophers who touted the term and decide which you want to use. There are many from which you may select. Proprietary royal is a new one on me. It resembles a couple of things with which I am familiar, but rather than to steer you in the wrong direction, I will suggest that you re-check the term in your assignment and use the exact term in your search. Similar sounding versions could mean one of at least three different things and I don't want to give you the wrong answer.

One question at a time.

"The Iroquois, or Five Nations, sometimes called Six Nations after the Tuscarora joined them, had been a power of high importance in American international politics. In a certain sense they may be said to have held the balance between their French and English neighbours, but thier relative influence had of late declined. So many of them had emigrated and joined the tribes of the Ohio that the centre of Indian population had passed to that region. Nevertheless, the Five Nations were still strong enough in their ancient abodes to make their alliance an object of the utmost consequence to both the European rivals."
