I'm thinking about Britain but if you know about an area that is similarly seasonal your info is welcome. So what I'm wondering is what did people eat during the winter, did every family have its own food store, or was it managed by a town, or a local ruler? How did people ration it out, and what were the economics involved? It's just a matter of curiosity.

This may seem like a dumb question, I understand the basic concept, comparing events in two or more places/times, but much of the comparative history I have encountered seems to be more sociology or anthropology than history. I understand that academic history sometimes does this, crosses into other disciplines, but comparative history is confusing to me. I know this is a vague question, but any insight you can offer is appreciated, any clearifications or descriptions of what compartive history is/means. Thanks in advance

As far as I heard it was Dionysius from Alexandria some 2000 years ago that classified all parts of a language, like verbs, nouns, ect. Was it really him? Does anyone have a good source where they got your info?
If it wasn't him, I would like to know who it really was.

Helal (i'm looking how to say his name, pronounced 'Helal' on the DVD).. PBS Special... Kingdom of David...Helal was a Jewish Teacher, that used to Teach a moral code...eg.. a version of "Treat others, as you would want yourself treated", and it is believed that Jesus was a student of His. The reference I have is a PBS special on Israel, and there is no website for it...so I'm basically looking for the correct spelling of 'Helal', and if anyone scholars here know more about Him or a link. Thanks.

Has anyone else heard about the freeway that the Irish PM Dick Roche is having built through one corner of Tara? Tara, as in the 2000-4000 year old mound of monuments and tunnels where the ancient Irish kings were crowned? So firstly, my question is, is anyone else as mad about this as I am? And secondly, there's a petition up on tarawatch.org, but is there any more direct way of getting results, barring flying to Ireland and joining the protesters?

2. Comment the settings. How were they historically accurate?

3. Comment on the characters. Did they seem believable or romanticized?

4. Choose one section of the movie to describe in detail which you think gives real insight to the time period.

5. Was this movie good for informing you about the events, setting, and the time period?

Thanx
