Thr greatest moment in history for me was when Jesus was born. So that He could grow up to and share His philosophy and teachings with the world. What about you?

Greetings! Hmm, a very good question.

For US and World History I would have to say the defeat of the Axis in World War II. Never in western civilization has there been such a group of evil people who shook moral decency on the planet at one time. Defeating Hitler, Mussolini and Tojo (Okay, I know I probably should say Hirohito, but IMHO, he was a lost figurehead to the military machinery).

Now, in my lifetime, I would have to say that the greatest moment in US/World History was the Apollo 11 landing on the moon. This triumph unleashed unbelievable technology to the masses (In fact, if you are reading this message, you are enjoying one of the moonshot benefits). Computers, medicine, communication, science, especially in Astronomy and of course, space travel are now in our hands because of this feat.
Thanks for the great question. Take care.

I accept as true with purely approximately each saddest 2nd already suggested, yet maximum of those are activities that occurred off the sphere, so i'm going to circulate with on the sphere background (that's a small time-physique with the aid of fact i'm no longer the right age to bear in concepts something till now 1992) As a Broncos fan the appropriate 2nd for me became into John Elway working for the 1st down in 1997 against the Packers in the finished Bowl (the helicopter play) and the saddest 2nd became into while Terrell Davis had his knees destroyed and could no longer run anymore i'm additionally a Bucs fan, so the appropriate 2nd on that area became into Ronde Barber's interception return for a TD on Donavon McNabb that iced the 2003 NFC Championship interest and sent the Bucs to the finished Bowl

The greatest moment in history was when the first person stopped believing the lies he was being told by his church leaders, and from that grew Humanism, and from there the philosophy and teaching of human thinkers was shared with the world and progress was made.

I think it was when George Washington came to the end of his term as President of the United States and when it was time for him to step down, he stepped down, and every President since then has stepped down at the end of his term. They resisted the temptation to stay in power and make themselves a king and made the position one of a true public servant. That has never happened before in the history or the World. That is what our government is all about. The government behaving in a way that is predictable and prescribed by our Constitution. I love it.

Remarks about the current President are not appropriate here. This is not about Geo. W. Bush.

One great moment was after George Washington finished his second term in office. He was at Independence Hall in Philadelphia. He actually handed the Presidency over to John Adams, which meant he was willing to give up his power. Imagine if he decided he wanted to get rid of the Presidency and just become King.

July 20, 1969, when we left our planet Earth to land safely on another celestial body, the Moon, 270,000 miles away, and return to Earth. No other moment is even close. Think about it.
10,000 years from now, what will people remember? No contest about what we did with that technology at the time. It's amazing now.

That would be when Jesus was killed. If he had died of old age with Alzheimer to boot that would be a sorry tale to tell.
Why is this question in the history section?
