I just got one for 30 dollars and it's the first helmet, modern or antique, I've ever had that's fit my head comfortably. Before I wreck it however I want to know if it would be a waste of a piece of history or money.

If there had been no war and they had been allowed to secede did they plan on claiming some of the land in the west or would the have been content with what existed in the seceding states. Did anyone even think about it at the time? Did the South know that the North would fight a war to preserve the union?

I know this is an issue filled with a great deal of anger, but did Nixon get a raw deal? I know that he screwed up, but he also was perhaps the greatest foreign policy president we've ever had, plus he was the one who got us out of Vietnam (no one seems to remember that Kennedy and Johnson got us in). Did he get a raw deal?

I dont know if this sounds like a really dum question but i was just wondering ive heard that he ate children to make spoons and forks and then i also heard that he was a really evil president who use to eat slaves. I dont know I just want to know if someone that today would be considered a serial killer is being praised for one of the greatest President in history this wouldnt be fair. Anyone out there with an opinion to if this is true or not. They say that to every rumor there is always some truth to it so im guessing this has started from some truth. And by the way this rumor is dating back before masters of horror FUI ! Thanks everyone

The Romans were arguably the greatest engineers of the Ancient world. But when it came to innovation, the Romans seemed to just steal an idea and improve upon it.

The Arch, toga, columns, and amphitheater were Greek.
Latin came from the Latins of Latium.
The Legions evolved from the Phalanx.

What did the Romans both assimilate and/or improve upon from other civilizations?

When Germany attacked in the West on May 10, 1940, the air forces of the Allies (French, British, Belgians, Dutch) had a substantial combined numerical superiority over the Luftwaffe. Certainly, the Luftwaffe's aircraft were generally superior plane-to-plane. But the Luftwaffe totaled 1,900 bombers and 1,470 fighters. The total air forces' strength of the Allies was 1,625 bombers and 3,500 fighters.
Yet, on the Western Front (the only place that mattered) the Luftwaffe enjoyed an almost 2:1 numerical advantage: -
Germany: Bombers 1,559; Fighters 1,220.
Allies: Bombers 398; Fighters 1,050.
I know that the RAF held much of its strength back in Britain for "home defence". And both France and Britain presumably deployed aircraft for imperial defense in the Middle East, India, SE Asia, etc.
Were the Allies so sure that Hitler would never dare to attack on the Western Front that they squandered their aerial numerical superiority in pointless deployments elsewhere?
