The basic idea has been around since way back, for example the casket choice in The Merchant of Venice, but who thought of the question written down and a,b, c, d, with those little boxes? Obviously it was some lazy teacher who wanted easy marking and wanted the dumbos to get something but who was it?

I know there have been abbreviations since the Ancient World, like the Roman SPQR, but when did people start saying them by reeling the letters off? Did anyone say "H.R.E." for Holy Roman Empire for example?
The earliest case I know is a poem by Alexander Pope about 1740 which demands you say "F.R.S."

Doesn't it seem like the intelligence level of our politicians has diminished ? I mean ... such a greater percentage of Americans have a formal education today but ...... I don't see any writings, speeches ..... or dialogue that even compares with the strong, eloquent written word or oratories of our forefathers ? What happened ?

Even though slavery happened and it was brutal, I still give whites the respect they deserve. You guys are a force to be reckoned with. You are a minority on a global scale you have syill managed to gain control over the earth. I might not agree with some of the tactics used to gain this control but you all are warriors. In the movie the last samurai the samurai's were amazed at how even thoughTom Cruises' character would still try hold up his weapon even though he was fatally wounded. They said he was a new kind of warrior. your determination is astounding.Your thirst for knowledge is indescribable, your lust for power is insurmountable. You guys have people and machines in space.Even though whites are hated one thing for some of their acts a smart person still respects their accomplishments.Don't get me wrong i'm glad i was born black, but you all still get the utmost respect for the positive things you have accomplished in these modern days. Now if we could all just get along!!!

Please, don't bothering answering unless you know a little about history and Nazi-hunters.

We seriously believe our neighbours are ex-Nazis. They are in their late 80s/early 90s, and are extremely aggressive to a criminal extent (we've had the police give them warnings more than once, for damaging our property, for indecent exposure, and also for attempted assaults), and they're constantly saying things to us that allude that they really were Nazis. For example, they say really crude sexual things to us - things that we don't think are normal for an 80-something year old! And tellingly they have also said to us, "back then, we knew what to do with people like you". Can you please tell me how we can contact those who are interested in investigating whether these people are seriously ex-Nazis? Or how we can research this ourselves?

Again, serious and constructive answers only, please.

c - was very active in regulating unions and lowering taxes.
d - made a deal with Truman who agreed to union regulation and lower taxes in exchange for passage of a civil rights bill.

My unlce died in vietnam I never got to know him yet many say he was a hero. I didn't want a hero I needed my uncle ! What did he die for. So the USA could pull out of vietnam and abandon the people that helped us there . The US left and many people that helped the usa were killed by the Viet Kong. The fall of sagan etc this all happened . Now Korea has the atomic bombs and power to destroy countries .So why did I lose A 20 year old yuong man . That is now an uncle I can never know. What was this all for ? And why are we losing our people to kill other people. Can't the usa just spend our money here to make the usa safer. Please save our people, our friends our families ! Otherwise when you lose someone to a forien war you to will have an empty hole in your heart ! Or more holes or empty spaces if you have already lost someone.
