The major postwar demographic shift was:
a - massive movement to the Northeast.
b - the sudden popularity of high rise apartments so that people could be close to work in the cities.
c - the popularity of urban living.
d - the popularity of suburban living.
( I'm talking about after WW2 )

Okay, they're right.

But let's look at how you are going to answer a question like this. a) You know people didn't move from Arizona to Maine, so cross it out.
b) Since our major transportation problem is getting people into jobs from outside the cities, you know this is wrong.
c) Most urban centers have lost population in the postwar period. There are exceptions like Manhattan (well probably only Manhattan), but decent accommodations are humongously expensive.
d) What's left? Bet you a nickel you live in a suburb. Before WWII I would have bet a whole dime you lived either in a city or in a rural area.
