This is a "What if?" kind of question for real history-lovers.
How different would the world be today, if Carthage had won and Rome been conquered? The influence of Rome on the whole of the Western World is vast. But what if Carthage had won, instead? How do you think life would be like today? What direction do you think the Western World would have taken?

And by whom? I was watching the Helen Mirren version of Elizabeth 1st last night - it featured beheadings for traitors, burning at the stake for heretics, being hung, drawn and quartered, hands being cut off.... Nasty stuff, that must at some point have all been replaced by hanging... I know the French got the guillotine just befoe the end of the 18th Century...

I just wanted to know what people thought about government censorship of film/tv/games.

I don't mean the application of ratings; rather when, for example, a film is banned from being shown because it is deemed too innappropriate. Or games for inciting violence. Do you believe that these mediums do insight violence?

Do you think that it is the parents responsisbility or the governments to monitor people's viewing habits?

Do you think the internet should be censored for various things such as political and religious extremism?

What about books? Do you think certain works of literature should be banned for their content? Do you believe schools/governments should be able to ban certain works?

I'm totally open to everyone's opinion, this isn't for an essay or anything like that, just curiosity!
